Most people go with Rifle because it can target the mind pool. With a rifle, you get mind hit shots and a mind bleed. You can sit at 60m, snipe a guy with a mind bleed, then run up to him and bleed him again with your weapon of choice. Now you have two bleeds on him and can also target the mind with your two-handed weapon.

I believe this is what most people. Rifle and 2-handed seem to compliment each other well.

In the end, however, pick what you want and what you think would bring you the most fun. In my mind, I imagine my character running around in the wild with his trusty rifle, 2 loyal pets, and huge sword strapped to his back. This is why I have some rifle, swordsman, ranger, and creature handler. Do whatever makes you happy.

ya im thinking of going pistoler. I always liked pistols in games and was never a real sniper. Either pistol or carbine cause in games like Wolfenstein for the xbox (play online) I aint to bad with the pistol or the machine gun but i suck with sniper. lol so im deciding run up to them and do pistol whip or a ranged kd? or sniper?? lol hmmm

If you want to go pistol cool, but since you asked, I think rifle.

If the new tank ability for meleers is all its cracked up to be, I plan on doing the following to take out some seriously tough mobs:

Rifle Mind Bleed 2, Rifle Mind Bleed 1, Two-H Bleed 2, Two-H Bleed 1, Center of Being, strap on armor, and watch the sucker bleed.

Honestly, I think CH would be best. One of guys in my guild was doing this. It worked increadibly nice for him. I am going with Combat Medic as my second line. To me (and this is not a shot against anyone else) if you go with a melee profession, there is a reason you are not useing range. So why pick it up as an "after thought". Which is why the medic line complements swordsman very well for me. I have been able to adjust my stats to give me more mind and a quicker mind heal. This in turn lets me heal myself and keep fighting.

Smuggler. Two mind bleeds on the uberest mob(s) you can find, feign, watch the sucker(s) die at 4-5k mind dmg a hit. True you only need ONE box in smuggler for this... but hey! Also you could do rifleman if you really wanted like 9k bleed... but thats just overkill.

if you earn MCH and a few boxes of med skillsyou can just about kill anything.... with a few exceptions.

It takes my Toxic Merek Battlelord (all 60% resists) and I about 1 minute to killa pair ofFS mystics (90-125 level range). With a combo of heals, mind bleeds and tacticsits quite easy.

Even if you used rifledand 2H mind bleeds when something of that level caught up to you you would have little chance. Another great thing about pets is that they usually keep the mob from DB-ing you.

the only thing about the ch thing there slayermat2 would be that everybody and their dog is taking ch as either a side skill, or as their main skill. like a few friends and i went to dantooine and in the mining outpost there wasnt a single person that didnt have sludge panthers or grauls of some sort.

I think that it all depends on what you wanna do. I think if your gonna pvp rifle wouldnt be a good choice. I favor my pistol for the kiting ability. But for high lvl mobs I dont think there is better combo with MCH. Plus anyone you pvp will whine if you attack them with a Rancor. Although the idea of having CM as a sidline is great since youn get to use poison that attacks the mind. Plus being able to heal yourself is a definite plus.

If you plan to take the ranged skill to master then definately go rifle. (PvP or PvE) If you only want a few boxes, then STAY AWAY FROM RIFLE.

With the exception of the bleed attack, at lower levels it will not be a good companion for sword. This is due to the 2.5 melee modifer and the warping mob issue. You will not have time to change, even with a macro.

Just get CH. I'm master swordsman, master ch, and 4,4,4,0 medic. I can honestly say that I only die when a FS npc hits me for 2230

my current plan is

marksman 4-0-0-0 rifleman 4-0-0-0 / master medic / master swordsman / Scout 4-0-0-1

That gets all the mind bleeds for rifle/swordsman medic is of course great for healing and swordsman specials usually use health/action to work so healing is amazingly good there, Scout just for a little fun... I like to run up hill fast and be able to harvest creatures and to forage extra good stuff for the mind pool.
