Thread: Trying to deiced. Swordsman, or TKA?
I have played both to master, so I think I have full knowledge of both professions:
TKA
- One damage type with maximum of AP1
- +270 base damage, turns a vibro knuckler (~50-150) into 320-420. This can be upped some more with a good slice and some uber loot.
- Can spam most specials, if not all, at the speed cap. Very good damage output.
- Get knockdown and a posture change down, both are on seperate timers.
- Gets several state effects
- Can target all pools
- Does not get bleeds
- Has the meditation line which is very, very useful for a melee profession. Can stop disease, poison and bleeds. It also allows wound healing, recover from incap and a small, but nice buff. No other melee profession has this.
- Defenses second only to fencer.
Swordsman
- Two damage types both at AP2
- Few more area attacks, but they are redundant.
- Targests mind pool
- Mind bleed
- While faster at master, you are not going to hit the speed cap with the uber high damage hammers.
- Not very much defense
- 2-handed sword, fast as vibro knuckler, is 50-250. Far less damage than TKA.
If you want instant gratification, go with TKA as they are currently the most unbroken melee profession, maybe of any profession. The profession is designed well and works very nicely from top to bottom. Swordsman isn't as nice since the bleed nerf and while hitting very hard, doesn't hit the speed cap with some weapons/specials.
TKA
Pros:
Meditation
Speed
Knockdown
Cons:
No weapon (unarmed) unless you use a Vibro Knuckle
Unless you go up in the Accuracy line you can't target a specific ham bar. UnarmedHead hit is not nearly as powerful as Swordsman Mind attacks.
Only Kinetic damage type is aBIG BIG BIG disadvantage when everyone can walk around in 80% kinetic armor.
Swordsman
Pros:
Multiple damage types (2 damage types, but future damage types would be more likely than TK new damage types)
Really good area attacks
Able to attack the un-healable mind pool
Mind bleeds
Medium Armor Piercing
Cons:

What makes Swordsman better than TKA, and what is TKA better at than Swordsman? Can Swordsman out damage TKA?
BTW, im a Master Creature Handler Wookiee, looking for a good combat class.
tka is an uber class right now, hopefuly the devs fix that. After the art of combat we will most likely start outdamaging them, right now we cant, unless you have skilll tapes.
