Thread: Race really matter that much?
imma twilek how do you think i feel? apparently im meant to dance but it doesnt hamper me to much except the low stamina. should have been a rodian.

Actually ammonite, Rodians get a +10 to Two-Handed Accuracy.
Lately i've become bored with the direction my character seems to be taking, so im gonna try and turn things around and go hardcore melee. Ideally master brawler, master swordsman, and maybe master fencer for the mods.
My question is, does race really matter much? Will i be gimpy if i stick with playing a mon cal? I really like the look of zabrak stats and abilities, but deleting and starting over would suck. If eventually i wanna wear composite for pvp, will a mon cal even be able to wear a full set?
Im knida rambling,
, but i would appreciate any feedback and suggestions for swordsman race(and eventually how it will apply towards armor use).
thanks!
I would just go with what race you like. I'm a rodian, we have no innate skills for 2H although we have nice action pools. If your going Doctor/Swordsman then Mon cal would be nice due to the mind boost buts its not necessary.
Really? cool. I thought we had a one handed bonus, I've not looked at the char creation for months as I originally rolled as a weaponsmith.

rodians have both
1-handed accuracy +10 and 2-handed accuracy +10
Stick with what you want, one of the best swordsmen I know of is a Mon Cal; Aseikin of Ahazi. Just gotta have the money to buy good weapons and maybe armor, and it doesnt really matter what race you are.
I'm not sure how others have played here but my experience is that the +10 accuracy bonus as a Rodian is significantly helpful all the way through novice.
Starting off you get very little bonus to any two handed skills so the number is more important when you start off. I've played TKA and Rifleman without any bonus and in comparison was able to outperform both classes (respective to their difference) easily. My friend started TK a week before I untrained rifleman for 2h sword. In four days I had already passed them in skill tree boxes and now I am 3-4-4-3 while they are 2-3-2-2 with very similar playing time and styles (location, mob, armor, powerups etc).
If you want to start a new char and get through with noticable initial advantage, I highly recommend using a race with specific bonus. Later in your career it isn't significant but early on, it can mean ability to hit higher level mobs regularly. Get novice medic to heal and eat ryshcate/breath of heaven/muon gold for good effectiveness against tough mobs, a tough mission (food and spice buffs wont last you 2 missions), or right before an unregulated duel.
Remember some classes cannot wear all armor pieces or any armor at all, so consider how you want to play - ie: with 80%+ resistant krayt composite armorvsno armor or less but possibly better HAM stats.
In the end it is who can deal the most damage such as 2h/commando/tka (using dizzy/kd), take the most damage (armor/HAM stats/repeat healing ability), and dodge/counter the most. At low levels these don't come so much into play so a racial bonus is nice to have, and at high levels they are what make your character decent vs really good at their function.
Just my opinion from my experience, so don't flame too hard if you significantly disagree. =)

Actually, Mon-Cals are able to wear Composite Helms. It looks alot like a Predator Helmet/Mask.
I am a Mon Cal Swordsman, and i find with the large mind pool and novice Medic that it works out rather nicely.
You will have to play with your secondary health stats but you should be able to wear Composite. Don't hold me to this however as i do not have a full set. You can infact wear the gloves, bone is the only others that i know of that work .I have not tried a composite helm. I am going to guessthat you won't be able to wear it. Curse you football shaped head!!
Ultimately though selecting a race that you enjoy will far outweigh any perceived advantages/ disadvantages in specific races.
