Thread: Questions on Swordsman speed
I'm a novice swordsman (0/1/1/1)working my way up to master swordsman. I've got enough xp to get advanced sword techniques which I plan to get next since hitting with a cleaver or a power hammer does not compare with the 2h curve sword I have (sliced to 1.9 speed). I'm talking about DPS which is better known as "Damage Per Second".
I currently have +40 2h weapon speed and once I reach master it should be +80.
Does anyone know what this number represent? How much does +40 2h weapon speed skill reduce the base speed of a weapon?
Let's say my power hammer has an attack speed of 5.4. How much does my 2h weapon speed skill reduce the attack speed?
There was an old thread I read awhile back when I was still a pistoleer regarding weapon speed skills and that each point is a 0.01 reduction in the weapons speed skill. Is this correct and more importantly is this true for Swordsman?
Anyone know?
I'd prefer a 40% reduction versus a 0.4 reduction in speed considering our attack speeds but other combat weapons, mainly pistols, follow use the 0.01 formula rather than go by percentage.

I am not sure what the formula is, but I think plooma is a little off. I can attack once per second with my 2.5 speed two handed curved sword using regular attacks and I have a two-handed melee weapons speed of 70. I found out that I could attack once per second by turning on timestamps for the chat box and looking at the combat window.
Well following the 0.01 reduction per point in weapon speed, wouldn't the 2.5 speed 2h curved sword hit once every 1.8 seconds? Since timestamps are accurate only up to the second and not a tenth of a second, it'd be hard to tell if a weapon was hitting for 1 second or 1.8 seconds unless empirical data was collected. Hence, we'd need to see how many times we get an attack every 60 seconds and divide that to get our average weapon speed.
Just curious. I guess it's because I'm also doing TKA that I've noticed the time delay between hits. I've also noticed the increased damage with do. ![]()
It's a percentage reduction in delay between attacks (also, specials have varying time multipliers that factor in here as well). Get two handed melee speed +88 like I have, do specialstwice as fast as a master swordsman with speed +75, andyou'll believe it.
speed is lowered by .1
So if you have a 5.4 power hammer and +40 weapon speed you'll swing @ 5.0
There is of course the 1 second maxium cap... So as a master with +80 speed anything
with a speed = 1.8 or less all swings the same for you.
It's pretty simple, speed +40 is a 40% reduction inthe delaybetween swings. So a 5.4 hammer should be autoattacking every 3.24s
