Thread: Myths of the Swordsman... That need to be put to rest

Hello My Fellow Swordsman,

Over the past couple of weeks i have been reading our forum. Trying desperately to gain knowledge of our profession. Better understand our weakness and to diminish them and increase on our strengths. There are many "tales" being told of Swordsman that i feel should be put to rest.

Foremost: "Swordsman is a week melee class"

This is far from the truth. As any true Swordsman who trains and understand thelimitations of their skills can most of the time find victory in their battles if they only focus. Although most of my experience is of Everquest and I have an affinite for the blade and the call of the wild. I feel that by what i have seen in game and read on this forum that many of the new pupils, and those of the "fast track" mind set. Need more time to understand our unique standing with in our community...

Please post other such notions that need dispelling and why....

you take the swordsman thing a little to far and i would like to advice a little break by maybe playing a different game for awhile

I bet the main reason the police keep people away from a plane crash is they don't want anybody walking in and lying down in the crash stuff, then, when somebody comes up, act like they just woke up and go, "What was THAT?!"

Yeah, alot of people complain and whine about the state of Swordsman. While it does have big problems, atleast we can function in combat. And pretty darn well too.

Not sure if you noticed, but the game you're playing is called an MMORPG. The last three letters stand for Role Playing Game. So what exactly is wrong with him playing out a role?

I think most swordsmen will agree that we are far from a weak melee class. Most of the discussion seems to be comparing TKA to swordsman and asking why they get the stats they do, which in some cases are more appropriate for our class. But I agree, the myth needs dispelled.

BTW, glad to see another Ranger/Swordsman about. Not too many of us around it seems yet I always have seen it as a perfect combination of skills.

Oh, I forgot to add. The other night some of my fellow PA friends were gathering a group to hunt on Yavin 4. When they heard I was heading there to join them, one of them exclaimed, "Great! Now we can hunt the big stuff!"

Nothing warms the heart of a tank like remarks like that.

my favorite thing was watching a swordsman with his power hammer kill dark troopers in 1 single hit, it was great but that guy had Thor's hammer since it had 3.0 attack speed i forgot the damage but it must of been pretty high if he was makin DT's look like chubas

If it had a speed of 3.0 It would have to be speed sliced with a Speed Powerup, meaning its max damage would have to have been about 460-475.

You cannot one-hit a DT with a weapon that weak.

You can however one-hit a DT with a damage sliced powerhammer + damage powerup (over 700 max).

im not sure if tanking is the right term. actually with cob ur right, but without that you cant really rank well with out master brawler or some defense lines from tka.

our prof is definately not weak, i just want some difference in our specials, the "out of range" issue fixed, and some more swords would be nice too.

but yea, we can ruin stuff in combat.

Hello my fellow Swordsman,

I find that when i interact in games being that i am a "casual gamer" I engulf myself for that short time into the game entirely that is how i feel i get the "best" gaming experience from the product. Now to some it might sound like this is all someone might do if they act or speak similar to the way they play the game. I think it's takes more of a true gamer to understand the character they play then a "power gamer" does who undertake such activities as playing these games for HOURS and creating their life around it.

They are the ones who usually the ones to complain and rave and spam their ideals 24/7 on boards because they have no other way of interacting with other human beings. While the rest of us who work, and have people (in real life) who they care about and spend time with might find them a bit off.

But this is a message forum and people are hear to express their opnion good or bad.

Salutations
