Great ideas, i like the ideas whole heartidly. Um nothing i have to disagree with because of the fact that i am a pikeman and block is one of my many needs. Your thoughts on this new system for dodges blocks and counterattacks could work. Maybe if you got some representation to your idea you could hit it big.

Sounds good to me.
It's pretty weak imo that the current combat system seems to base all defense on mitigation w/ no avoidance in the equation past the "did the attack hit" stage.
I would probably add in bonuses/penalties to overall effectiveness of dodge and block based on the difference between the accuracy of the attacker vs. the defense skill of the defender as well.
I agree that 60% may be a little high for the top end of dodge/block/counterattck efficacy.
