Thread: A Novice Swordsman has a few questions...

  • Do Swordsman have a dizzy / knockdown move?

  • Do any of our moves "blind" a target?

  • The power hammer and 2-handed curved sword seem to be the only real options as far as damage and speed. What's the useful for the other weapons? They all seem to be either too slow or not powerful enough.

Are there any DPS charts for our swords?

I'll probably have a different perspective on the profession once I've master it -- but, so far, I don't think swordsman will be able to compete against the other melee professions as far as PvP and even PvP...?

1. No

2. Supposedly yes, but the one that is supposed to blind dizzies instead.

3. Some people like the cleaver.

What's the best weapon for swordsman doing PvP?

The Powerhammer? or a 2-Handed Curved Sword?

  • Do Swordsman have a dizzy / knockdown move?

Area attack 3 (offense 4) and 2 handed hit 3 (master) have a chance to dizzy (contrary to what both skill boxes say).

There is no knockdown move in the swordsmanprofession tree, however you get a knockdown at master brawler.

  • Do any of our moves "blind" a target?

No.

  • The power hammer and 2-handed curved sword seem to be the only real options as far as damage and speed. What's the useful for the other weapons? They all seem to be either too slow or not powerful enough.

That's true. Cleavers are nice because of their ham costs if you can't rely on buffs or food/spice.

No but try this post :

AE3 is dizzy + posture down, which is as good as KD/dizzy on an NPC or marksman.. when the dizzy sticks.

After a couple technique boxes, you start hitting speed cap with cleaver, meaning the lower HAM costs and higher minimum damage make it a better weapon than 2h Curved.

As for PvP, DO NOT USE POWERHAMMER. Except on pure Pikemen, you'll miss TK and Fencer so much, they'll prolly take a nap before killing you.

There's no profession that can rival Swordsman in damage, excepting a Master Rifleman.

Thanks Ehogack...

Is there a formula that will allow me to see when I hit the 1.0 second speed cap?

For example, if I'm a Master Swordsman, what will my weapon's speed need to be in order to hit the 1 second speed cap when using2H Mind-Hit 2 ?

+ ??? Speed Master Swordsman (don't have the SWG client up at the moment)

2.2 Curved Sword Speed

2.0 time 2H Mind Hit 2

Can someone post the formula?

Is it the same as the Pistoleer DPS formula ?
