Thread: My Bad Luck

Just thought I'd share my pain with some of you sympathetic people out there, Having purchased a total of 10 different weapons, mainly PowerHammers but with a couple of Scythe's and the new Acid Damage DXR Rifle, I decided to have them sliced, working on the logic that at least one would get a decent Damage Slice.

10 Slices later - 9 Speed slices and one 15% Damage Slice on the worst Power Hammer of the lot.

I know this is luck and just the way it goes sometimes, but it's frustrating as hell, especially with the Scythe and DXR hardly being 'common' weapons.

Yeah, that sucks. Sorry to hear it. The only thing I can suggest is to sell the speed sliced ones to people to whom speed is more important than damage, which means people still working their way up the tree.

Also, keep in mind that if you are not at the speed cap with a weapon, a 30% speed slice is the same as getting 30% more average damage, so all is not necessarily wasted.

I feel bad for u, I understand what u are going through, I had a set of composite sliced so I could wear it, and every piece except the helment sliced to increase the % of protection. That would normally be a good thing, however, if u cant wear it, what good is it to have a 90% kenitic protection

Sorry to hear that...

But the argument about the speed slice adding damage applies, if you are not at the speed cap. And considering the cost of speed tapes, most of us would not be.

So, a 30% speed slice, with the range modifiers of the Scythe is still very good. Try it out and see.

The Damage/Speed Ratio is the best indicator of a weapon's potential.

Actually, speed is better if cap is not reached.

35% speed slicegives a weapon 1 /(1-0.35) = 1.54 -> 54% more damage per second, while

35% damage slicegives a weapon 1 * (1+0.35) = 1.35 -> 35% more damage per second.

Nice to see a post from Kupaasi the lovely gentleman that made my Scythe for me. Now that got a decent speed slice and I do two hits before my first hit's animation has even finished. 2.1 Speed.

On the Flip side of the Speed vs. Damage slice argument... A speed sliced weapon will lose it's condition quicker as you might be doing more damage per second with a speed sliced weapon but you're using it more so the condition goes quicker. So it's swings and roundabouts really... and as far as the Scythe goes, it's quick enough already that a speed slice is unecessary.
