Not surprisingly, I am lost. When I left the game, I was soloing NS Elders during most of my playing time. I gave away pretty mucb everything I had when I left the game. So now I am back with Master Swords, Master Brawler. I know there is a huge combat change, and I am wondering what the best way to learn about the change.

Firstly, is swordsman still a viable profession?

Secondly, tell me about armor. Right now I am naked with a power hammer for a weapon. I have done some 5k credit missions on my first night, but I need armor badly. What kind of armor should I be looking for?

What is the bread and butter attacks within swords? I see a lot of people reccomending TKM and Doctor. Assuming I am not going to be crafting, is it safe to put all my points into those areas? Better yet, I understand I can respec in some way? How do I tell if I should respec or not?

Anyone who can point me to basic information or answer my questions would be greatly appreciated.

The best way to learn about fighting in the CU is just dive in and do it!

You should master another elite combat profession so you'relevel80 /3000 health.CL is super important -anything higher level than you does more damage to you, and takes less from you, that's why you want to max your level. After that, put the rest of your SP into whatever you like - I'm getting MB, Pike 0040, and Fencer 0004 to boost accuracy anddefenses. I have dabbled a bit for specials and frankly I wasn't impressed with things like Blind or Bleed attacks.. better to just do another Headhit than try to put on a state imo. The area attack and area KD in pike has possibilities, but really in this combat system, you don't want to be taking on more than onething at a time without a healer around.

TKM combines greatly with swords, you get innate armor of 6000, this is like 48% resists and compares very well with crafted armor. If you put on any armor you lose the innate armor.Powerboost is great, adds 500 health. Center of Being is the supreme tank ability, adds 500 defense and lasts around half a minute or so...this is the difference between getting hit for 198 and 63.

Sword flurry could turn out to be really good (+120 defense) if they make it stack with CoB... it's buggedatm, CoB+Flurry provides no more defense than CoB alone.

A typical fightgoes like this..

CoB for defense

Armor break

KD (leg sweep from TK I think)

Critical hit (x1.8 damage, x2.25 if it crits)

Head hit (x1.7)

Melee hit default attack fills in here and lets action regen

more Criticals and Head hits etc

Always keep CoB up in a fight..you shouldn't take much damage this way.If you do, just pop a stim-D, anyone can use themand it's a 1200+ heal.. can only use one once a minute tho.

Check out what foodsare available, blob candy is good Action food and there's other stuff too.

We can still solo elders..if anything, they'reeasier now.. look out for the krayts tho

Thanks, that was really helpful. Let me see if I can repeat back to you what you said so that I understand completly.

I should go master swords, master brawler, and master TKM? Doing so will allow me to use the innate defense of TKM combined with the power of master swords? When fighting like this, I should not use armor because that negates the innate advantages of TKM.

Is that pretty much true?

Also, you used the abbreviation CL refering to 3k health and level 80. What does CL mean?

YupsTKM for thedefense, MS for the offense.. this is what we need to stand up to tough mobs like we did in the pre-CU days.Master Brawler optional really, but if you have all four trees filled from picking up Pike and Fencer skills, you might as well pick up the master box

CL is your combat level, or Creature Level for mobs.. it just means level
