Thread: Rancors or Fort Tusken?
My Swordsman is coming along nicely. i'm advancing up the techniques tree at the moment... but after i hit mind hit 3 i think i want to try stomping some higher level critters.
I've been on dantooine, doing hurton huntress lairs... with little risk. ...only thing i have to even remotely worry about is the timer on my Muon. but i can usually drop the entire lair, with 2-3minutes to spare on my drugs.
But tanking 10k+ HAM mobs is a bit slower. so i don't think i'm quite ready for rancors or anything that severe. ...maybe when i get another finesse block and my first real acuracy bump i'll be good to go.
but i have some nice 80% comp armor. and i'm itch'n to kill the big stuff.
just wondering if there's a recomendation as to which critter is the better hunt. Rancors are on Dathomir. ...and i'd image can be spread out. you might also have to contend with other errant dathomir critters who're in your way. or whatnot. Fort tusken is a little out of the way, but the enemies are all in one spot. and i figure if nothing else, hunting will be more concentrated.
does anyone know the exp breakdown from each? ie average exp from a rancor, vs average exp from killing the tuskens in that fort?
loot wise... tuskens i'd imagine are better. for being NPCs. ...rancors do have bio-loot. and have residual scout exp for skinning. but i think without doing missions. tuskens would grant better loot rewards.
do tuskens drop holos? or crystals and such?
any advice or general info would be greatly appreciated.
thanks
Vas
Pickets on Dant are not really that much more difficult, but a little more challenging that Hurtons.
I think its around 3k xp per kill.
Also drop good meat (sometimes) if you want to harvest and use / sell that too ![]()
hurton huntresses are better exp... than the picket missions i can pull down myself.
a hurton huntress is 3.5--3.9k exp
a picket longhorn, and longhorn female usually are right at if not a little below 3k. regular picket is only like 3.1k expor so.
so i'm looking for the next level... not a little better. something that pays out 4-5k per kill. like i've heard rancor younglings do. but i've also hunting fort tusken with my smuggler and seem to remember getting good exp there.
probably will stick with the hurton huntresses till the weekend. then i'm off dantooine.

I have found the love of a rancor. They are a lot more concentrated than you would expect and are about 5k xp each. I go buffed with moun on the brain. I wear comp head, body, and legs but not as good as what you have. They push me to the limit to where a second hand is nice. It breaks the boredom too. Especially when you are there pounding away and they are standing back shooting going "oh my gosh!"
At my level I should be able to solo them I believe with what I have but so far I have had a second body at least each time. I still get 5k each. It is exciting and keeps you on your toes.
Haven't fought the tuskens, but npcs seem so much more unpredictable. At least I know I will bleed with a rancor. LOL
If you are on Eclipse and are on around 9pm est give a shout a couple of us are rancor pounding again on the 15th here. And for a few days even into the weekend. We are Rangers and have a large order for Dath Animal Bone. Rancors drop big.

If you like hunting on Dant, go after any of the grauls, maulers, ancients, whichever. Around 5k exp, no ranged attack and they die pretty nicely with mind bleeds and head hits. Also, slinking voritors are great. They rarely poison, they dont run away and they're usually around 4500 exp. Don't do dashers, they run away and shoot poison at you and dont do horned, nasty poison, even if you're TK, it takes a while to heal.
As for Fort Tusken, its a great spot, but the trick is you can often get hit by a group and that is tough. Also, they've upped the bleeds on warlords, they can getclose to 1300 pt bleeds (I was there last night and got hit for 1285 bleed). The ones down in the tunnels underneath do drop goodies every once in a while though, i got a crawl speed +4 armor attachment, a bunch of containers and some other goodies.
Best planet to lvl on IMHO is rori im a wook so i cant wear armor (although i killed these same things to lvl my BH) so i am a MCH to make up for my weekness. So i go pull me a pair of Rav turton lairs and sic a pet on the lair. Without ch this can be done easly by puting on the /peace and running close enough to one where he agros on you and pull him 30m from the lair then kill him thats how i did it for BH. They give 4800xp each and go down in a hurry after the big creature nerf. On my server they also hvae some great hide im collecting for a armorsmith friend
got 50k so far SR MAL and OQ all over 800
If you are lvling the brawler blocks the levisquals there give 1k a pop and the tatered and shallow turtons give the same and are non-social

watch those hanadaks, they intimidate. While tanking several at a time this can kill your bleeds, causing the fight to last longer and potentially incapping you. However, if this does happen, you don't need to worry about them killing you, they don't db
yeah thats another good thing about them.....the not DBing part
I would stay away from the Tuskens for a while...I have been hearing alot of news coming from that place from lots of people on lots of boards, about Tuskens hitting you like 10 times in about 2 seconds (not an exaggeratoin)
I got a 3674 health buff and a 3342 action buff with around the same in the secondary and i had a group take me out in about 5 seconds. I am a master swordsman and i got 4 hits in lol. They incapped and slaughtered me. I had muon and fishak btw.
Just some advice, Ubese is better than comp in PvE.
Get some 70%+ kinetic ubese, and GROUP with something/someone, even if its a droid who is just sitting back at the outpost, when I was leveling TKA I went all the way with this, averaging 4.5k xp per huurton huntress. the ubese and Buffs and, another piece of advice, 1 Phishak and 2 glucose (more mind and no downer) which most chefs carry.
