hey guys,

i was wondering about the benifits of buffs in the post CU world. partially to help decide if i want my character to be a master swordsman / master doctor again.

so, would anyone mind posting the average increase in dps after getting buffed by a master docter? as i understand it, there are speed and action buffs now? is that it? ideally, i would like to know how buffs benifit a character who is only a master swordsman, without extra melee speed from other professions.

it isn't that i'm too lazy to test it out myself, it is just that i won't have access to the game for another 5 months or so.

thanks for the input in advance.

Buffs are not nearly as beneficial as they once were. There are Health, Action Regen, Mind Regen, Attack Speed, Poison Resist and Disease Resist buffs now. If you ask me, you'd be best off getting a template like Master Swordsman/Master TKA/4000 Doctor, which would give you the defense of TKM, high-damage output from Swordsman, and good healing ability from Doctor. If you CAN get buffs post-CU, great.. they're helpful, but frankly you can fight very well without them too.. and I'd say the skill points for the buff line could be spent better somewhere else.

I totally disagree with the previous post lol Buffs are where it's at. The speed buff increases your dmg potential enormously. When fighting against other healers (which you do often, i.e. jedi) you need short spurts of maximum damage to outdo their heals. To achieve that you need speed and damage. Adrenal boost gives you a +40 to combat speed. That's a huge difference. Serotonin injection boosts your mind regen by I think 20% possibly more at master doc, which is helpful to a healer because often times it's running out of mind that causes you to die in a prolonged fight. The action and health bonuses are just gravy and can never hurt, but the main one is that speed buff. Small scale pvp it's hard to live without it, large scale pvp you can get away without it.

I'd suggest only going as far as Doctor 4xx4 if you want to maximize your combat template though. The other abilities gained aren't very useful at this time.

I don't have Master Doc back yet, but at 4-4-4-4 the mind regen buff is only 10%. And I believe MDoc only adds a bit more duration to it (I believe MDoc does bump the Health regen buff up to 10% though). The speed buff is nice if you can control your action (SAC reducing PuPs are my friend). The regen buffs are useful, but even in PvP I don't see them as being required. Foods seem to give more of a benefit than buffs (though I always use the buffs too...I mean, I'm not THAT stupid).

So anyway, as long as you have 4-0-0-0 Doc and your mind holds up you'll be in good shape. In a pinch I take a brandy and a canape (in addition to my mind buff and spiced tea) and I can pretty much heal ANY damage I'm taking. Bacta JAb (with enhancers) can keep me going almost indefinately.
