Is this even possible?

I'm haveing a bit of difficulty soloing when I cant pull singles from a group of mobs or npcs. Very often they stand close together and with a high Ferocity rateing in the case of mobs they easily cause assist argo to everything near them. The result is I'm being chased down by 4-5 mobs.

So my question is, is it even possible to pull singles and if yes how do I do it?

Just slowly walk up to one until it agros and run away from the group to kill it or use a bleed to try to pull a single.

If there's only 2 mobs and you want to pull a single, unequip your weapon if you use a ranged weapon, hit attack on the selected mob you don't want to agro. The other one will come thats not on your target. Hit peace and run to where you want to kill it away from the other.

For example:

If there's two Nightsisters, one being a slave and one being an initiate...use attack on the initiate to pull the slave and vice versa.

Xakia, that's a bug with how mobs react to their friends getting attacked. It will be fixed likely with the next big patch so while it might work for now it's nothing I would consider to be a long term tactic.

As to trying to pull singles from a camp, that's pretty hard to do on mobs specifcally designed to help each other out. Fortunately two things you can bear in mind:

1) As long as you are not doing a specific destroy or explore mission, there are likely to be plenty of other mobs that do not group that are worth just as much exps. Hunt those instead.

2) You, as a swordman, are the master of AoE attacks so take advantage of it. I like to find a group of mobs like rot mites on Talus that I know will react to one of their friends being attacked. I smack one with a normal attack, the others all gather around with the idea of ganking me en masse, then I suddenly break out my two handed area attacks. Corpses are flying everywhere and suddenly they rue the day that the programmers coded their behavior that way. So in short take advantage of the fact that they group.
