Thread: Why SWG won't keep me around much longer...
Ok.. so I lack one bar from being a Master Swordsman. I'm not a 2 handed deity yet... but could it make that much of a difference?
I'm in the Weapons Research Facility on Naboo tonight hunting Dark Troopers. Besides a few rude people who wanted the place to themselves, I deal with the boredom and wait on a spawn.
Low and behold, 2 spawn before me. I engage them both and punch a shot of Muon Gold to keep myself healed between specials. My action is going down quick after 2 specials, after all I am a swordsman and we can just about incap ourselves with three good specials. I stim myself and hold my breath......
It's a success! I'm back up to full power. I take a single swing at the trooper on my right... I'm incapped. Looking back throught the combat log I see that he hit me for 703 points of damage...
703 points of damage. I have melee mitigation 2... great new addition, thanks for saving my @ss SOE. I have every other defense skill you can get in swordsman short of master, and let's go ahead and include the additional +40 melee defense I have in the rifleman line.
Should I mention I had on a full set of composite armor? It probably wouldn't matter... approximately half of you are saying, "Yeah that sucks, it happened to me last week." And the other half are saying, stop crying and become a Creature Handler.
Add all that defense togetherand what you still get is a swing against me that takes 90% of my health HAM pool (I have 825) with no clear indication that my rifleman class 4/2/3/4 or my swordsman combat class 4/4/4/3 have done a single thing to protect me... and my wonderous composite armor with around 45% resists (not great I know) absorb none of the damage....
Ask me when the last time I hit for 90% damage on anything short of womp rat was? Even with a T-21 and headshot3..... wait, I'm complaining too much here. Realism is the key... the same sort that took Leah out of Cloud City amidst heavy carbine fire.
Tell me again, someone... anyone... why do I pay $15 a month?

makes a huge difference
im a master and 1-3hits at most darktroopers are on there azz dead,, get a new hammer, go master the profession and stop crying you got own by a dark-trooper because you didnt get a holo yet
I kill one of the Kunga, the other one goes down to 1 health from his bleeds, I turn to him, and hit Head Hit 2.
Then...W T F??? INCAPPED? How in the.. I check the combat log.
Here is exaclty what it said.
Iha Acto (a Kunga Scout) uses Shiim Shiak on you for 1490 points of damage!
Of course, this attack is not covered by my armor. My bar is reduced to almost nothing (not dead yet, I'm buffed remember). Next line...
Iha Acto (a Kunga Scout) uses Skull Slash on you for 1189 points of damage!
Iha Acto (a Kunga Scout) uses Skull Slash on you for 718 points of damage!
Then he deathblows me. Standing there with a mind bleed on, with 1 hp. I sit there watching in disbelief for a second. Then he does a victory dance, and proceeds to run over to my Swoop bike and blow it up.
*sigh*
Worse things have happened to me before patch though... a couple days ago I went to the Tusken Fortress and a Tusken Gore Chief used Advanced Strafe on me SIX TIMES INONE SECOND EACH FOR 2000+ POINTS OF DAMAGE! They all hit my chest, and were not blocked by my armor somehow. It took more than 13000 condition off of my chest plate. For some reason none of the Tusken DB'ed me though, so I wasn't half as upset about that as I was about the Kunga thing.

Hey Wahaa,
Thanks for your post. Your enlightening nature must shine through numerous galaxies. I'm not so sure it's a whine as a legitimate complaint against a game that continues to show it's backside. Most serious gamers I know have already left.

The way I understood it, certain items that you wore were registering as possible hit locations. It used to be if you wore a back pack, that counted as a hit location. There were other items that were counted as well (jewelry, bandoliers, etc...). I really do hope they catch this bug because it is annoying like you said.

There is an armor bug where once in a rare while a hit will just ignore armor.
to be honest with armor even if you are wearing a full set of protective armor, there are small spots that can be hit where it is thinner, or weaker, or just not protected as well, like the joints, or the underarms, or the necks, so it is quite possible to get a shot through armor, but the thing is if you do, you are lucky to do so.
but personally as a role player my character doesnt like armor sp thus i do not use, or wear it.
but i do plan on collecting all the items i need for RIS armor and putting it in my house as a centerpieceon the wall, just for the fun of it.
You're not the first one mentionning this. As I readed on the boards, npcs seems to be more powerful with the last patch. It's part of the new changes for combat.
If you can wait till all the changes for combat are in live servers(next patch I guess), then it should all be back to normal.

For this last statement, even if I don't approve the flames, I guess that was a good way to bring the flamethrowers in this thread...
Next time, do as myself and smash your keyboard 2 or 3 times before posting. After, use onlythe remaining functionnal letters to post. ![]()
Indeed it was a "fluke" as someone mentioned. My point is that the fluke only works one way.Like I mentioned, I can't hit for 90% of an opponents damage and I doubt I will be able to do so after I master.
I understand the damage type argument and its a good one, but again, it needs to work both ways. If a DT has vunerability to stun or energy, then I should have the same chance of removing an entire HAM in one hit. I suppose that's unreasonable.
It really saps the fun out of the experience for me... I suppose most people can just shrug it off, clone, eat the decay and move on. I simply found it ironic that after this melee damage mitigation stuff I am slapped around like that during my very first encounter. After adding COB and mitigation and toughness, I just had to stop and ask **edit** was that about.
I apologize for the rant and plug myself back into the Matrix like a good drone.
