Thread: question for the swordsman/rifleman

So I've got a swordsman/ranger alt and am going to drop the ranger (fun, but just not worth all the XP points). I am considering sword/doc for the obvious benefits, but rifle/swords sounds like the most fun. Now for the question...

I am almost exclusively PvE, and like to mix things up (killing quenkers all day long just doesn't cut it for me). However, on the real adventure planets it seems like everything has diseases/poison. As a ranger I just walk on bye, but as a rifle/ranger how do you avoid getting hammered by the real nasty disease/poison throwing critters.

Thanks in advance, and happy holidays,

I used to have this template with novice medic to finish off my skillpoints. It is pretty easy to keep from getting diseased/poisoned, you just have to learn which critters do it and don't fight them. For instance, on dant, seething bols disease so I don't bother them. Poison isn't too bad because it ends pretty quick, however getting multiple poisons on you can be a big problem if your attacking 5 mobs.

With rifles you can pull one mob at a time using the bleed/peace technique, even elders, and then finish them off however you see fit. You just have to learn what you can handle at once and attack accordingly.

swordsman/rifleman leaves a considerable amount of sp left over, i finished my sp off with tka 4000, novice scout, novice medic, and FS CP 0002. I will be dropping novice scout for more force sensitive stuff soon but thats not the point. The point is that with my set up i've never had trouble with poisons or diseases, nothing really has poisons or diseases that can really do anythingexcept forGDK's (which even then, it's not that bad). Meditate may help but its never been absolutely life saving. So there's no need to worry about that

Well that is my template, Master Swordsman Master Rifleman 3300 Medic... That is as of right now. Gonna change it to MRM MSM 0240 Fencer 2100 medic. Great PvP PvE Template. Eventually Ill need to drop some fencer and medic for FS Skills and such but that is in a while.

My templete is Master Ch;Rifleman (use to be master) dropped to 2-1-2-3, Swordsman 0-3-0-3,Novice Med..I like this templete because I have ranged and Mele that works together I can stack my mind bleeds Mindshot 1,mindshot 2,and use Headshot 3 long range...I also have an Acid rifle with mind poison. Then when they get in close Mindhit 1,Mindhit 2. and finish off with Headhit 3..with a scythe would be nice too have a two handed mind poison weapon also ..looking...All the while with pets tanking for me it is fun.Better buff and drink Brandy though.

Medic? Bah, who needs Medic!?

Here's a template that works GREAT for me in PvE:
Master Swordsman
Master Rifleman
4/0/0/4 TKA

If you dont have force skills (melee speed is huge) then drop the extra SP on Medic if you want, its not really needed. This template gives you increased melee and ranged defense, meditate so bleeds and poisons become an afterthought, force of will and powerboost. Throw all your stats into mind and a typical day will look something like this...
Log into Acklay Cave unbuffed, use /takecover. Pop brandy & ahrissa, kill Acklay unbuffed using concealshot, loot.
Powerboost, burst run out of cave, get real buffs.
Swing by Giant Dune Kimo Lair, kill with mind and head bleeds. Loot.
Grind FS SP VERY quickly. Make your daily million off lvl99 missions, go help guildie that wants to see NS in action.
Taunt a few elders, kick the crap out of em, share the loot.
Swing by the local faction farm, spend 2minutes killing everything in sight with Strafe2. Make a few hundred FP for the day, just cause you can.
Lay heavy beatdown on Geo LAb, outdamage the Acklay camping party, loot.
Log out, repeat.

Just dont hit Ft.Tusken with this template. It pisses people off when you kill Warlords in a few hits, or take out a room of 12 Tuskens they were counting on to finish off that last box of pistol XP they wanted. Take it out in under 30 sec. Cry.

Greetings,

I am currently a Master Swordsman & Master Doctor and I have to say that it has been one fun ride! When I started SWG, I wanted to wield a firearm of some sort so I chose Pistoleer as my first combat mastery. I kept it for a very long time until I got tired of becoming a sitting duck each and everytime I was approached by a melee attack. I then considered commando but didn't want to sacrifce all my points all at once. So I then moved onto swordsman, and I have to say it is really nice being able to take out 7 stormies at a time! Swordsman has a lot of really nice specials. I was a doctor before swords and I have to say that there is nothing more convenient than being able to log on and buff yourself at will. It also allows you to be able to visit medical cities (where there is almost no one ever buffing!) and get a really nice buff. I have to say that it has proven most effective for me in my experiences, it is also a great source of income when hunting tends to drag a bit. It is nothing to go to Coronet plop down a droid and make some killer money in a short amount of time. Just my ten cents!

lol.....You need Medic Alot. Well to each his own, but sometimes you get a couple of clear hits from the NS with LS Moves. And it doesn't turn out pretty....
