Several members of my Guild converged on Endor today (Tempest) to get some XP. I only have the Novice Sowrdsman skill, but I wanted to get a box in Finesse, so I went along. It wasn't long until I realized that my xp bar wasn't moving. So I started tracking the XP it was awarded and the XP that actually got to me.

Result? I was getting about 10% of the XP I earned.

  • Starting XP - 30,261

  • XP Award - 1,275 2h XP

  • New XP total - 30,388

I got 127 xp out of the 1275.

So I started testing permutations. I put away my beetle, removed my buff clothes, and did no specials at all. Same result. Then I used the 2H sword instead of the Hammer. Same result. THen I tried using my bare hands, and got full XP for that.

I re-logged once too. All inall I was disgusted, and quit for the night. I figure I had lost well over 30k XP.

So today, I logged, did some errands, stocked the vendors, and found myself on COrellia. I decide to test it with a server reboot. Went after a Durny.

  • Start XP - 31,643

  • XP Award - 88

  • New total XP - 33282

I got 8 of the 88 XP awarded to me. I dint' try anything else, I was too ticked off. I /quit and came here to see if there was something I'm missing.

Anyone?

Thanks in advance.

Hmmm...not sure if i understand your second example, can you recheck the figures you posted on that one please or maybe explain some more ?

On the first example: i presume that was the xpawarded to youfor a single kill ?

Are you having the same problem today ?

Please keep me updated on this.

The sword finesse tree uses combat experience. There isn't a bug, you are just misunderstanding some things. You get 10% of whatever weapon exp you gained in combat exp. For example, if you kill something and get 100 two-hand exp, you will get 10 combat exp.

Intermediate sword finesse requires 60,000 combat exp, so that means you will have to get 600,000 two-hand exp to get it. You are getting the proper amount of exp, only you didn't check to see that the finesse tre requires combat exp, not two-hand exp.

Hehe....looks as if i can't see the forest anymore with all the trees around....

Please let us know, Akkori, if this wasn't the reason for your problem.

Yeah, my bad. I didn't read closely enough. Man! 60k friggin Combat xp! SO does that mean it has the best skills? Say, if I only wanted to take 1 tree of Swordsman?

Well, I can guarantee that the finesse tree does not contain the best skills. Level 1 gives you mindbleed. While that skill alone raises your chances for survival greatly, it is a DOT (damage over time) attack, not a direct attack and you can still be killed even after using it. Level 2 is a skill adjustment only. Level 3 is a waste of time and combat xp, because you get nothing (absolutely nothing) for thexpit costs. Level 4 is an upgrade to Mind Bleed 2, which bleeds the mind out a little faster than MB1.

Finesse is not a tree to even pay attention to. If, on some clear evening when the moons of Naboo align with Dantooine and Corellia...and a Rebel compliments an Imperial on his faction choice, you get a level in finesse, be happy that another rung of the ladder of struggle is behind you just before you drop the skill completely to get to Combat Medic faster.
