Thread: How Is Swordsmen in PvE
Well, first it really depends on what race you have chosen. Swordsman is based in the brawler skill beginnings and you want your race to reflect that. Some races just arent cut out for brawler skills.
But to focus on your more precise question:
Heavy swordsmen do great in the PvE arena. With the defensive bonuses awarded and the special attacks, it is much easier to shrug off damage from a creature than someone bearing a ranged weapon. Add counterattacks to all the defensive postures and you get to deal alot of damage. Our weapons are slower, but they hit very hard. The hardest part of it all is the approach. Enemies that aggro you will get off several shots before you get in range to attack them. In the higher levels of swordsman, PvP is even in our favor. If a heavy swordsman gets you to a knee, he can inflict some heavy damage and time released mind damage in a very short period of time.
I wouldnt trade in my heavy clever for a rifle, pistol or any other ranged weapon ever though. In fact, the only time I do use a ranged weapon is when I am killing a camp in a group and fast damage is not needed, to save the damage on my clever.
If you are tired of kiting (the art of blasting while running away) and want to get a rush from every single battle you fight, 2H sword is for you.
With my template; Master Swords/Medic/Brawler, Doc 0/0/0/0, scout 3/0/1/0; I have NO complaints.
NONE
I couldn't be happier with the pvp aspect, although I could be happier with the current state of the food buff system...
