Swordsman Archive
Thread: can't continue Holo Grind, swordsman is too cool.
Forget being a jedi, I'm a master swordsman now and I CAN'T STOP.
I've been killing all sorts of crazy stuff I never thought I could, and my last profession was master teras kasi....
you guys are the best kept secret! I'm glad to be a part of it.
Teras Kasi is overrated and the class bogged down by kids who spam KD2 while delayed for 20 seconds.

Shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
I'm signing on to the list of Jedi hunters that stumbled on Swordsman as well. I've persued multiple combat professions for fun, and been a devoted crafter for a long time. I'm actually considering dropping Weaponsmith entirely in the interest of persuing Carbineer skills to augment my character. I'm loving it. =)
My big question though.. Does Melee Defense, and Ranged Defense from the Fencer line of skills stack with our own? As Squad Leaders have skills which increase these values on their group, and the skills add up in your listed skills I believe that reports I've heard are false that the Melee/Ranged Defense from the two professions only apply when utilizing the proper weapon for that tree. I could believe there is a cap in place for its efficiency, but have yet to see where that cap would be at.
I wish I had the time to track down posts regarding Defense skills from the various forums to start off with and experiment to try and compile a list of Defense skills that currently stack, and at what point the effectiveness of Defense skills cap out at.
All melee and ranged defense mods stack, however there are some bugs with this, probably related to unresolved issues regarding the changed accuracy of mobs and npcs as well as mitigation.
It is currently under question whether dodge/counterattack/block stacks or not as there are conflicting test results. We should have reliable info in a week or two, until then I do not recommend pursuing templates which rely on stacking of these mods.
Hope this helps.
Sweet I was hoping this prof was good. I am tired of my holo grinding, I've heard jedi sucked and imho tkm rocked and now ranged profs seem weak as **edit**. One Question though: I want become a heavy swordsman and how can I get there while having fun?

How can you get there while having fun? ROFL the whole class kicks butt from the beginning to the end. It's a great, great class and I agree: it makes ranged look like kittens. The stuff I take on now is ridiculous. Let me just say Dathomir is like a playground at this point. Just pick up the axe to kill newbie spawns, then get the curved sword to start cl 10 stuff, and once you hit novice swords buff up, armor up, and start on pickets and stuff. Once you get either the area attacks, spin attacks or mind bleeds your start flying up the chain. It took me a week to master heavy swords and that's with pvp'ing half the time I was on. Less than a week later I hit my two-hand xp cap at 900k. This is all simply because you can do incredible damage. It really doesn't matter what you take on. As far as Dathomir, I can solo anything short of the Nightsister elders. On Lok I can do Giant Dune Kimos (85k ham). Buffed up, armored up and spiced up, a two-hand swordsman is nearly unstoppable. You can't even group with people because you will soak all the xp.

I don't know... I've started having too much fun playing darth maul with my LVA. But it'd be tough to to leave a profession where I can just eviserate two tusken cheifs at the same time. /giggles
But ssh. We suck in PVP so the little kiddies leave us alone. Of course that doesn't stop me from bleeding they enemy medics minds and running away screaminglike a little girl. lol
I too am a Holo Inspired Swordsman andI have found my true calling!
Long may the fun last!
