Thread: Mind Bleed/Grenade doesn't give combat xp?

I tried this on a picket. I tried using the Mind hit 1 (first box finesse line) with a power hammer, peaced, waited till it's mind was almost bled all the way down, and threw a grenade on it. The XP did not convert to Combat XP for some reason. Why is this?

Is this because the grenades don't hit the mind pool? I tried this several times on pickets and the most I ever got was about 300 combat xp.

I dont think you can get more exp than about what you would get just from fighting it normally (10% thing). That would be an ionsane way to get combat exp if you could just throw grenades.

I may be wrong, a way to find out is to kill a mob completely with the grenade and see.

No, bleeds and grenades will give you 100% combat XP if done correctly. Here is why. The XP granted is divided up between the players and weapons that did non-bleed damage to the creature before it died. So (ignoring bleeds for a minute)if I start shooting with my rifle and take it down to one quarterof its life remainingbefore it closes on me, then finish it off with my Powerhammer, 75% of the XP will go to rifle, and 25% of the XP will go to 2H Sword. However, if I start out with Rifle bleeds and go peace without hitting it for any non-bleed damage with my rifle, then finish it off with my Powerhammer, all of the XP will go to 2H Sword because all of the non-bleed damage came from the Powerhammer. This is, in fact, how I leveled 2H Sword most of the time. Two rifle bleeds, wait for it to aggro, 2 bleeds with the Powerhammer then pound away with Headhits until it was dead, and all the XP goes to 2H Sword. The Rifle is not credited with any damage at all as long as I do no non-bleed damage with the rifle. Of course in both cases, you get the 10% bonus Combat XP as well.

Since grenade damage is counted Combat XP, if you bleed something down to 1 point of damage, then get in 1 grenade hit, all of the non-bleed damage is done by the grenade, so all of the XP for the creature goes towards Combat XP. Thus if a creature yields 1000 XP, you will get 1000 Combat XP for the grenade, then 100 Combat XP more because you always get one 10th of the total XP more as combat XP. Also, it does not matter if you bleed down the mind pool then throw the grenade. The grenade does not target mind, but it does Random pool damage, and random pool damage always does the majority of the damage to one pool, and a little damage to each of the others. So you will always do at least 1 point of damage to the mind pool with a Random pool attack, meaning you only have to use one grenade to do this as long as the grenade gets a hit.

But the trick is that you have to only hit the creature with bleeds and grenades. What often happens, however,is that you cannot hit peace quick enough, so you inadvertently get in one or two normal attacks with the weapon you are using for the bleeds. Then when you finally kill it with the grenade, the grenade did minimal damage, so the majority of the XP goes towards, in our case, 2H Sword. But this is not because the sword (or whatever you were using) did the bleeds, it is because you got in some non-bleed damage by accident. Just make sure that the only damage you do is bleeds and grenade damage, and you should see 100% of the XP going to Combat XP.

hahah i did the exact opposite to lvl rifle in the begining. i mind bleed all of the torturs that would aggro me then peaced run away. i did this till rifle 4 when i got the mind bleed. then i mind bleed with rifle first off. switched to sword mind bleed them again with sword. and finished it off with rifle. then i hit sniping 1 and then i just soloed everything with rifle to get the xp hehehe.
