So for about the last week, I've made Lok my semi-new home. I've decided in my infinite wisdom, that I absolutely need to obtain a set of RIS armor by myself (don't ask me why), which would require the ever elusive GDK scale. Easy enough, 5 days in Lok, 100 Gurk King Hides and 3 GDK scales later, I somehow realize that I cannot find one of these things to save my life.
My friends can't find any.
My master ranger friend can't find any.
They have disappeared from the planet!
Does anyone know if these "cycle", or if theres some super secret thing I'm missing here? For almost 5 days, if I cruised around for 15-20 mins, I'd come across one. Now, I have yet to see 1 in almost 3 full days (except that POI GDK once).
Any ideas? (besides don't waste my time with RIS)

I usually find at least one spawn a day, sometimes more. I concentrate in the vicinity of the volcano. Yesterday I killed 12 gdk's from three spawns (got some doubles from one spawn) in the cone area uptop, and then found two more spawns lower down on the plains. Just have to be lucky I guess and keep riding around.
Honestly i think it's easier to find Black Sun on Yavin...*grumbles*

That's where I go. Around the volcano, then head west, southwest and circle around back and forth about 3000m.
And ya, I'm well up over 50 with only 3 scales.

Me and a friend hunted GDKs for about 2 weeks and ended up with 20 scales between us, we found 2-3 spawns per day 4 Kimo's per spawn point. Had no Jedi luck or such (back then
) but we managed it.. took us 30 kills to get our first lot, but we go a drop of 9 scales. Then we killed another 20 or so and got 5, another 50 kills i think and we got 6 on a drop. I've killed about 120 odd since then and got nothing
For best results I scooted round the bottom of Mt. Chaolt first, then weaved in kind of a straight line toward the Imperial Outpost POI, Ctrl+M map on, not driving too fast, checking any lone red dots on radar or map. I waypointed each spawn i found and they seemed to spawn along a diagonal line between the two POIs - Mt. Chaolt and the Imperial OP. All but one spawnpoint I found was along this line.
Hope this helps and good luck!

I've noticed the same thing about where they spawn. Generally to the south, southwest of the volcano base, west to the Imp base POI. I've waypointed any I've found, or my friends had found when we spread out and looked, to the same results.
Guess they're on vacation for a day or two....

Right i found 3 GDK spawns in one hunt. Every GDK i have ever found has been between 2100 and 2300m from the volcano poi, fly in a ring at 2200 metres and you'll find some.

find the imp poi (whatever its called), theres a big lake near it. go east of the lake theres a big flat area, dont cross the river to the south or the hills to the north and i find them out there. if you find an enraged dune kimo a gdk is usually close by.

5 days... !!!
Dont complain man.. they drop several at once now, You should have tried this when the drop rates were 1... IF you were Lucky.
Months it took myself and a Mate to finish our sets, Hunting once or twice a week, with somewhere like 300-400 GDK's between us
