I've PvPed quite a bit, but always as either a fencer or rifleman, but recently I decided to go the swordsman route. My template as it stands now (not done grinding) is Master Swordsman/TKA 0103/Fencer 4430/Novice Medic. Good defenses and decent state defenses at the moment, will be better once my template is done. The only thing I have in the way of Swordsman SEA's are a couple of 2-handed accuracy AA's that added up to a total of +10. I don't have a high damage powerhammer either. Just a PH that's 468 max damage, but speed sliced down to 3.7 speed (33% speed slice).
Anyway, my PA on Starsider recently put together an inguild PvP ladder. Teams are made up of two members who duel another two member team once a week. I'm currently paired with a Master Rifleman/Master Doc (much mind damage carnage). So last night, we had our first match against a Master Rifleman/Master TK who was partnered with a Master Doctor/Master TK. Granted, since this was a planned PvP event, we all had full buffs (Doc/Music/Dance) as well as the standard foods (Brandy, Synthsteak, Vagnerian Canape).Everyone was armored up, of course. I also took a hit of 36% Air Cake.
So the match starts. My partner quickly throws out flurry and startle shots stunning and dizzying our opponents. Their TKM has to run into range, so I hang back with my partner letting him get his states and some damage on her before she gets close. Once she gets into range, I throw an AOE3 and watch her posture change down, on the first hit. She falls over and I begin to pound her mind. She gets up, runs off real quick, so I chase her around for another minute while she tries to regen and pops a few stims. Once I get close again, I simply do two 2handedHit3's, smile when I see the dizzy state land, and once again get a posture down on my first AOE3 swing. Not sure if I was lucky or not with that twice. I bypass headhits as my partner goes Strafeshot on her, and continue to use 2handedHit3. She is quickly incapped from that point.
Now we have to concentrate on the other combatant. My partner switches to his jawa ion rifle and goes mindshot while I run up to our opponent who decides to switch to VK's and meet me toe to toe. He actually lands a Dizzy/KD on me right off, and then spams UnarmedHit3 on me but I get back up pretty quick, not hurt much at all. Once again, I throw a couple Hit3's, land the dizzy. This time it takes about four AOE3's and I watch him posture change down and then flops on his back. My partner goes to Headshots, so I quickly start throwing the Headhits. He quickly gets incapped and we win our match. The matches have a time limit of 10 minutes and our match lasted 2 minutes 40 seconds.
Now, in the match I wasn't putting out as much damage as my Rifleman partner, but I was pleasantly surprised to see that I could hit for some very good damage. I was also quite surprised at how effective using Hit3 combined with AOE3 was. I PvPed as a fencer for a while, and I have to honestly say, that a defense stacked Swordsman is as, if not more, effective than a Fencer in PvP. With CoB running, I was just as hard to hit, and I could dish out A LOT more damage than I ever did as a fencer, even with a high quality acklay stun baton. This was the most fun I've had in a long time. I think I'm a Swordsman to stay.

Swordsman isnt one of the easiest pvp profesions but once you getgood at it you can become a very efficient killer and still retain pve uberness that goes with being a master swordsman. Many people underestimate swordsman as a pvp prof. I use tk to state and kd my openent (much faster than with swords) and a few mind dot pikes and then hammer it home (normally scythe it though
)with head hit 3.

Swords does alot of damage, but get used to lying on your back while the opponent ruins your chestplate

heh. Once I'm done with my template I'll have 85+ to most state defenses (dizzy, KD, posture change, and stun I believe) so I'm hoping to spend more time on my feet than my back. At least in combat, that is. Ahem.

area attack 3 on it's on is deadly as it is. tbh the way i use it i bearly ever have to couple with hit3 at all. swordman isnt easiest of pvp profession but it is very effective with good knowledge of it and pvping

lol, i dont use 2h area3, i like to stick my dizzy w/o accidentally wasting a posture down, i just use lunge1 and 2 (cuz of the range).

Another template I think people underestimate for PvP is Swords with Doc. I'm Master Swords (Speed Capped), Doc 0440, TKA 0004 (for defenses), and FS Speed, Accuracy, Ranged Defense. I also have a +20 Def vs. KD mod on my shirt, and I was gonna go Fencer 4000 for even more Ranged/Melee Defense but was too lazy to grind out the 1h XP and don't really need it. With Doc you really don't have to worry about dizzy that much. I have a macro that I use that just spams HeadHit3 then /healstate Dizzy. If your not dizzy there is no delay between Headhits, and if you are it takes care of it right away, then right back to head hits. Makes anyone your fighting have to constantly spam dizzy on you and doesn't give them much time to do any real damage. You'll learn pretty quick that if you take KD/Dizzy away from a TKM/Fencer, there is little they can do in a stand up face to face fight against a well equipped Swordsman.

Well, my macro is named 'CoB' and looks like this:

What is the CoB macro you are using?
/centerofbeing;
/pause 2;
/macro CoB
I just disabled system messages to the screen and put system messages on it's own chat tab instead of spatial so I don't see all the spam. Have to make sure you have a good internal timer otherwise you won't know when you're able to use your next stim.
I tried doing a /pause 31; but found that every now and then, it would miss (probably because of lag) and I would have a nice 30 second period without CoB causing me to restart the macro. With this one, I just don't have to worry about it. /shrug

Doc really shines through when you have 4-x-x-x, otherwise you're still vulnerable to dots. If I'm not mistaken you can't heal dots with your template, which can be a major disadvantage. I'm 4-0-3-0 in doc and I can fight 5+ rebels including CMs and not even get scathed from dots or otherwise. PvP is all about the dots, and being able to heal them is a HUGE bonus, even if I can't buff myself.

me master brawler so i get a few choices, also being speed cap i often posture and then stick the dizzy on before they stand and force them down. althought i admit it's a good reason not to use area attack3 because miss timing gets you killed. i havent had that problem personaly because i am used to altentating bewteen posture and kd. Not to say that it works for everyone.
however it is a good advise for most people
