Is pikeman better than swordsman or vice versa? You veteran players please help. I am trying to determine what templateI want to go with. THANKS!!
I was thinking about doing a template as follows:
Master Creature Handler
Master Brawler
Master Pikeman or Master Swordsman
or
Master Brawler
Master Fencer
Master Swordsman or Master Pikeman
TK 4304

if you can speed cap pikeman (or at least try to get close), then pikeman is better in PvE
Swordsman is better in pvp for sure if you can speed cap, except for the face that they have dots that are more common
But without speed enhancements, swordsman is better

Neither is better for PvE or PvP. It depends on your equipment and tactics. A Pikeman is great in PvE for killing the Acklay/NS and mid-low level NPC's. But your not going to see a Pikeman out their soloing Elders, even if they have a NSEL which does about 300 dmg per hit. Main reason Swordsman outdamages Pike is Blast damage.
PvP it's the same story. A Swordsman is great in PvP. Pike rely's on looted weaponry, such as DoT's and 1k damage Pikes. Though the 1k damage pikes can't touch you with your melee mitigation 3. But every once in a while you might get killed by an auto-ticking Pikeman with his (exceptional) mind fires. Though you can usually kill them before since they have such low toughness =)
