Thread: A disturbing discovery ... Teras Kasi Masters ...

Okay so I spent an hour dueling my Teras Kasi Master acquaintence in Anchorhead today and found some disturbing results.

For starters I am a master swordsman/doctor. I was completely 1500-2500+buffed for this fight (but thats irrelevant as you'll see).

The only way for him to beat me of course was to hit my mind. I was using my Powerhammer (600 max damage top the line server wise), Headhit 3,and using his bare hands he beat me the vast majority of the time dealing out a lot more mind damage then I could. Even worse I have 1100 mind compared to his 800.

We tested ita number of different ways and with different weapons on my part (everything but the PH killed me faster), but yes, a Teras Kasi Master can output more raw mind damage then we can. Personally I think this kind of sucks.Consideringuseful PvP skills, we have Head Hit 3 and Mind Hit 2. The area attacks are bulls***in PvP andanyone who says otherwise doesn't have any experience in the matter. Now considering how many other awesomeabilities a TerasKasi Master has, most notably the ability to heal hundreds of wounds in under a minute, I think we definately shouldexceed the raw mind damage ability of a Teras Kasi Master.Granted we have the mind bleed so we can hit people and kite them but I don't think a TK should have their arsenal of cool, fun, and various abilities, 1 of which is better then 1 of our only two.

Of course this is somewhat irrelevent considering the Devs don't really listen to stuff like this (not trying to complain). Hopefully a lot of unfortunate melee misbalances and issues will be fixed with the next big patch whenever it is due.

we get bleed ... thats much more useful then anything from a tka and your a doc you can heal all your wounds but mind... hell tka cant even pvp that great if you move around but no clue why you used a ph vs a tka with high melee def shoulda gone curved 800 mind is like 2 -3 hits heh

Yeah... something wasn't right there. I own everything I lay into when I hit with a Power Hammer. I take out about 200-300 mind with headhit3. Not to mention once the bleed takes effect its curtains. Something wasn't right with that. I haven't used my curved sword in a while but I'm sure I would destroy with that too. Barehanded you can be outdamaged with a curved sword per second with a TKA master, but when using a PH our damage per second is wayyyy better than a TKA Master (if your also a master), plus with the speed cap we are still hitting them just as fast as the TKA Master.

If you get a good mind bleed, usually all you have to do is hit the guy once with HeadHit 3 and let the bleed do the rest. I know it sounds corny, but i usually just run in circles and all different directions like a banshee to keep him from hitting me. Eventually he will die.

I know we shouldnt resort to petty tactics like this, but if it shows a good chance to win, ill take it especially considering how gimp we are in PvP.

Guys, I'm gonna post this on the Brawler boards too but TKA are the elite of the brawler profession.

Ok, TKA have 1 line completely dedicated to meditate, which is arguably one of the most useful skills in the game. It heals wounds, poison, anddisease. I've seen a mastercombat medic try topoison a master TKA several times and after killing the combat medic he just sits down and meditates off the poison (mind poison).

In their other three lines they get their toughness, melee/ranged defense, state defenses, bonus to accuracy, bonus to speed and bonuses to damage (which no other melee profession gets, added i think because of their lack of weapons).

So in other words what is usually spread out into 4 trees for all the other brawler professions is spread out into 3 for the TKA. Just by going up these 3 trees you can be as effective in combat if not more than swordsman/fencer/pikeman. You can also see how spread out and diluted the other professions skill boxes are by looking at them in game with control-s. By skimming through the boxes of the other professions you see that many times they are just given either a single bonus OR an ability for that box. You can look up the swordsmans technique or finess line or look at the pikemans stances, offensive techniques or support abilities for an example of what i'm talking about. Now look at the 3 lines in TKA in every box they are given not only several skill mods but also a new ability. Even the diversity in our abilities are very lacking,3 specials that have the effect of posture down??? While TKA can dizzy, knockdown, blind, or target any HAM bar they like including mind.

I'm not asking at all for a nerf on TKA or complaining at all, i'm just stating my observations and hoping something can be done about this during the re-balance of the melee professions.

I agree about the meditation line. And all the stat stuff.

Yesterday something amazing happened though. I beat my friend is who is a TKA master. Sure i got real lucky and it went down to the last little bit of HAM but i beat him. At the time i was at 1/2/0/1 in swordsman.

I have a macro that stacks mindbleed2 then mindbleed1. If you hit him with that and headhit3it should be very difficult for him to recover from that. I use a 138-536 4.2 powerhammer. Thats sliced and powered up. What is your willpower and focus? My mind is at 1100 and my focus is 650 and willpower is 600.

Hello, I am a TKMon Valcyn and a swordman (0,3,0,2). I agreed that TKM is pretty powerful and versatile. I was at a time debating whether i should master TKA or swordman (I wanted to master the most powerful melee class), but decided to go TKA instead after the recent patch (swordman were uber before the timerpatch).I just wanna present my point of view now having experience as both. The climb toward TKA novice is much more diffiuclt than that of swordman. Unarm was terrible as a brawler, that's all i have to say about that. Whereas in 2 hand sword you can use one of your most powerful weapon after obtaining the 2nd block. I personally think higher difficulty should be rewarded greater (I am sure all you swordman agree w/ that -or else you would have chosen the range profession). Also, i was doing roughly the same damage as a swordman when i was only have two blocks of technique (speed) as i would after i finish the power ladder in TKA. Damage outpurt for TKA don't truly become fearsome until they hit master, although i have to say that our defense is a bit nice. Now, I don't have as much expereicne as amaster swordman (hence you can flame away if you want), but i can't wait until i have a chance to duel one in my server and see how it will go.I amimagining the fightshould be pretty close if i targeted the mind bar using precision strike as a TKM, but if i use anything else, i would getbutt handed toby a swordman (assuiming no kd's). Hence the siutation between versatility and specialize area of damage. Our versatilty and damage comes in a lot of quick hits, and precision strike as a TKM are only useful in dueling, not other areas like pve or giant pvp as it drains our ham too much if we have to compete w/ dps on mind damage. On the other hand, it'seasier forswordman can dish out the mind damage in all arena. That's all i have to say. Decide which road you want to specialize in. Personally, I am a little jealous that i won't have enough skill pts. to be a master swordman, and be able to swing that scythe trulyeffectively when i comes out. But i guess the grass is always greener on the other side. I would love to hear the opinion of someone who did both and see what they think. I would also like to hear from other master swormdan and their experiecne w/ dueling w/ a TKM.

hehe, harder road should get better reward, how about for all of us who went swordsman when we got the 2h sword at the 4th tier, and had to use an axe to get all the way their. i also got to the fourth tier in tka, and it was MUCH easier than 2h swords. i also got to fencer 2 and pikeman 2, and id have to say that fencer was also pretty hard, maybe even harder than swordsman to advance in. I really dont agree with that "its harder to get and it should be better" because its th same amount of skill points and tka gets easier to advance in once u get up some in tka, that or my swordsman/tka firend cannibal on tarq is lying. he actually ended up dropping swords for tka cause it was easier to go up in, and because of the meditation line. i dont know about now, but it used to be much harder to go as a swordsman, and thats how i did it.

I have to say Unarmed is the hardest brawler line to get up. You can get Tier 4 of Fencing, Swordsman and Pikeman in about 3-4 hours tops. Unarmed is pure hell.

Of course, once you have a bleed you can power level all of your lesser combat skills or other peoples' skills extremely fast.
