Oh yea youll do fine, no worries. You can kick plenty of ass as a non speed capped swordsman. I was tanking krayts with swords before I even mastered it. Get all speed weapons though, andtry to find a hammer with like 3.7 speed or so. Good luck

Once you hit master you are gtg even on hammers that are in the 5.4 range (mainly cause the dmg makes up for that extra second or two you may miss on spd). The FS melee speed can help but is not necessary. And start looking for a couple good scythes with dmg slices as they will already have good spd at around 2.6.
May wanna check the stickies above for spd/dmg info on diff weapons too.

You'll want to stay away from tapes and attachments for now...they're very expensive and generally aren't worth it, in my opinion. As one of the previous posters stated, get low speed weapons (if not already sliced, find a master smuggler and have him/her slice it for you). That should start you off just fine mate.

Hi there I am new here. I have been reading stuff on swordsman and I think that it is the best hand to hand profession there is. So I want to try it out and do it with somthing else. I will probably mainly use sword though and I am wondering if i will suck as a newb? My friends are telling me that I need to get tapes to increase my quickness with a sword? I do not really understand much about this and I am wondering...Will I still be able to do pretty goo without these tapes to make me faster? I am poor and my friend just got jedi so he is poor from buying crystals. I know about the force skills for this but I don't think i will be able to get them very soon. Thanks all!
