Thread: My Swordsman Woes..

I am currently at 2/2/4/4 Swordsman with Master Pistoleer as a back up. I have been frustrated with this class for awhile now. I was under the assumption that melee classes have a high defence modifier, but it is me that is missing more than the NPCs.

I usually open with /state and /warcry1, but I have found out that when I use /warcry1, I pause for almost as long as my target does. What benefit does this give me? And /state lasts all of a few seconds and am really not sure if it is doing anything. Is it working? And if so, isn't it suppose to add more defense to me?

Also, I had read that the use of a Power Hammer is best for PvE. Is this what the majority of you use? I have yet to find one with less than a 5.0 speed. I was using a 2-hand Curved Sword, because it is a little faster and seem to like it a little better, but the amount of damage is reduced obviously.

Basically, I need to know if becoming a Master will actually be worth the downside I am experiencing right now. Oh, and what exactly is this mitigation I keep hearing about? What is it and how can it benefit me?

Nope, Swordsmen suck, I sure am glad I've never been one.

As to the mitigation, not that I'm a swordsman mind you, but it lessens the gap of your damage variance by a percentage. Let's say you are hit by a sword that does 10-100 damage, and you have melee mitigation 5.567ver. 1a. Melee Mitigation 5.567ver. 1a decreases damage variance by 10%. So, that 10-100 weapon will now only hit you for 9-90.

I could be totally off my rocker but, like I said, I'm not a swordsman.

Ok, I am now more confused about mitigation then before I asked. How do we know our mitigation level and better yet the mitigation of our opponent?

Since you're at 2/2/4/4, you have melee mitigation 2. You'll get mitigation 3 when you hit master. As for other opponents, you'll have to know what skills they have in order to know what mitigation they have.

You need at least Technique 4 to use a 5+ speed hammer effectively. I'vebeen using a 3.6spd 460dmg hammer, a switch from 5.5s 579dmg.

The damage mitigation is great or at least seems that way. I could maybe only take on a Tusken Warchief and 1 or 2 others at once. Now, thers nothing the Tuskens can throw at me I wont run up too. Ever seen how fast you can kill a Gore Lord, or any of those high level tuskens, kneel before you, get tripped up then get crushed with Hit 3 on the ground?

Ever seen one get back up? lol Me either

PvE Swordman is great. PvP, well, just hope who ever you are fighting is also Melee.

The warcry animation is long, but the move itself isn't. If you look at the Combat Log, you begin attacking way before the animation ends.

/state = State of Being. I don't know the actual command as I use it from my toolbar.

Swordsman is terrible. I can't beat a thing. I always get served. I dropped it as soon as I finished it. I suggest no one pick up a sword in a blaster world.
