for all you who saw that uber 1337 two handed looted sword on image dump and swore it was our new scyth your wronge....go to the swordsman trainer in kor vella and look at the wall behind him. you'll see two scythes along with a chittin armor breast plate. they look like sickles but they are the only thing i've seen that looks like a scythe.

i think the sword you are talking about is the one handed weapon called the rykk blade...

but with that nice blade that everybody has seen, think of it this way, if you put a staff into one end of it it would be a scythe in it's most basic form in technicality. and there are also many variations of a scythe, this one seems to be a battle scythe, but i am repeating myself from a couple of other threads.

actually i think i came across a nightsister npc that pulled a scythe on me. i took two screenshots, and am working on getting them posted someplace, i have played this game since beta 3 and have never seen this thing before, it was being held and used like a 2h weapon. .....working on putting the screenshot up.....

Your definition is describing a weapon that would be a polearm, not a weapon used as a 2h sword, axe, or hammer. This is a different universe than the one your definition is for, after all.

actuaually the definition of a scythe that he has is the general definition from any dictionary. but there have been, and are versions which use the same basic design as a scythe but have been modified for battle. like the commonly used comparison of the grim reaper's scythe, the blade faces down, and is not parralel to the ground (depending on the various graphics, and pictures there are) and the blade you see is a battle variation of the scythe blade. so in technicality we are both correct. except the part of it not being a scythe...
