Thread: No buff fighting, tell me how ...

Ok, I went human as swordsman cause I kept hearing that the ability to migrate everything to mind was crucial. Im 400/300/300 400/300/300 1100/1000/1100 stats. Obviously, I'm not a big fan of fighting unbuffed. So, what stats do people have such that they fight unbuffed? Im TK, so I can powerboost, which takes me up close to 1000 Health/Action, but that only lasts around five minutes and still isn't enough. I have 80% armor, but it doesn't go on unbuffed, and even my 70% ham sliced Ubese takes down my secondaries so low, HAM costs for any specials go through the roof.

So, all thesefolks who talk about fighting unbuffed,is it a foodyou're using that does it? Are you talking about spice? Do you have different stat configurations? Are you talking about healing yourself every couple seconds? Or are you talking out your backsides? :-) Six night sister rancors one guys said, unbuffed. That sure sounds like a load to me.

But, I also flamed someone about no way could anyone get huge exp so fast as swordsman until one night of good hunting, I did close to 600k in three hours. I couldn't believe it.

So maybe, 70% kinetic armor, super ham sliced, good food, six quick double mind bleeds, CoB until they all bleed down to 1 and then whack them? I'd love to hear how, I gave up Doc to go full forced fighting machine, but Im sure missing my own buffs ...

Yea, my friend was the one taking 6 NS rancors at a time. He had 80% kinetic armor, melee migitation 3. They were hitting him for 10 points of damage. Dont know about stats though.

I only fight unbuffed if I'm willing to lose my overt status, lol. I take off my armor and use food and spice. I usually last a pretty long time.

i dont go arround with buffs, or food, and i do quite well. all it takes is some stratgey, if you are master brawler, use warcry2 to stall them and lunge 2 to knock them down. same tactic as before, but just a better lunge and warcry. if not a master brawler, use the same tactic, except you will be using warcry1 and lunge1, which will leave your target open for attacks. or experiment and find your own tactics that work. and the bleeds are your friend, use them.

I use similar tactics to Soulbuner. I will switch to a lower HAM-costing weapon (curved sword or cleaver*) to do the lunge2 knockdown. Once they are down, I quickly hit my macro to remove my armor (and switch in to my +warcry/intimidate clothes), and do a Warcry2. I usually have enough time to do a second warcry2, if the first fails, before they stand back up.

If my warcry2 was successful, I'll switch back to the powerhammer, and stay out of armor, and lay on the special moves for 15 seconds before putting my armor back on.

If my warcry2 was unsuccessful, I'll switch back to the powerhammer, and put my armor back on, wait the 20-25 seconds before I can do another knockdown.

Also, you can attempt warcry1/2s and intimidate1/2s without aggro'ingyour targets. For particularily tough targets, I'll start with an intimidate, then the warcry, and then the knockdown. If you can pilea stun* on top of the intimidate, most creatures will hit with the force of a limp noodle.

I would also really recommend getting master brawler, The ranged knockdowns, 20 second warcrys and 60 second intimidates are all priceless.

*I actually have some TKA, so I do unarmed lunge2's, as they have the lowest HAM costs, This also gives a stunning attack.

Ok, there's no 80% kinetic armor in this game that doesn't haveat least very substantialHAM costs, unless you're talking multiple krayt scale layers for multiple millions of dollars. And no way is someone putting on that kind of armor unbuffed and not losing his mind totally cause HAM costs go through the roof.

The warcry/intimidate strategy doesn't work against six opponents. Mitigation doesn't turn creatures damage into nothing, 10 pts/hit just doesn't sound right. Im not on Dath much, but I fight ancient grauls, force sensitive NPC's, and giant kimoglias, and none of them hit me for 10, even with mitigation 3 (Im master swordsman) and I have 80% kinetic armor (which i can only where if Im buffed).

I took on four graul maulers at a time once, with my 80% armor on but with full buffs. I killed them all, only had to heal twice, but that was heal from 2500+ health and action and with huge secondaries that pumped back my health and made my moves cost next to nothing.

What server is this char on? I sure would love to see someone unbuffed pull this off. I still don't think Im hearing anything that explains how its possible. Warcry/knockdown sure, but thats one target and if/when it doesn't work, stats go fast.

Any other folks think this all sounds fishy and haven't had the success described here?

food is your friend, anything that gives strength, quickness and focus is the best.

breath of heaven give 600 to all 3 for 600 seconds. ryscate gives 400 to all 3 for 400seconds. you can eat 2 ryscate and drink 1 breath of heaven and have 1400 strength, quickness and focus. you can usually eat more ryscate a little bit after your specails cost start costing 20 points or so

i'm a master doc so i'm always buffed which really helps

oh yeah, intimadate cuts a mobs damage in half. Krayts hit for about 1000 normaly, with intimadate it hits for around 500, with 70% armor it will hit for 150, then mitigation 3makes it about 50 damage a hit. i have good 85% comp so get hit for even less

intimadte2 is even better i hear

I use breath of heaven + tatooine sunburn. gets all the armour on (with my build anyways), makes my powerhammer specials cost NO health (tat sunburn has +1700 to strength). that right there is a HUGE step in the right direction. if you're not using food and have full armour on you're probably hitting yourself for 200 health per special with that powerhammer. with this food my specials cost about 20 action (for head hit 3s) and no health at all. the first thing I realized when I was going through swordsman was that I was hitting myself harder than the mobs were. well, not with good food my friend.

food/spice = buffs

Buffs are anything that enhances your stats.

Rick...you do know that armor stays on after buffs were off right? Yea, and the guy didn't use specials, except for warcry and intimidate so there go the need for most secondaries. The only ones that would be needed would be mind to heal the other stats. And as one person said, with it you can cut a krayts damage in half to 500, and with high armor and migitation 3 to about 50 points. So are you telling me that rancors have higher damage than krayts? Oh...and what is your template, you could be a swordsman architect and have NO clue about what combat templates can do. Oh, and last but not least, you need skill like everyone has said.

Krayt doing 50 dmg,.. sure, that can be their minimum dmg. From my experience, even after intimidate, krayts still can do about 2k +dmg. with armor and mitigation that would be still be 150+. Still I have no problem taking down the newly buffed krayts, my onlycomplain is i go thru 6 powerups, 1 set of muon, boh and some other food, and lost 100 pts of weapon durability, 1000+ armor durability and about 10 mins of fighting time.
