I'm switching over to melee instead of ranged, and I was curious if taking swordsman to master and TK to precision striking 4 would be a good way to go, if that's all the skill points I have avaliable to me for melee skills?

I only plan on PvEing, no PvP.. and just want to be able to solo some trash for fun.

Is there a better way to go?

Why not take 1 melee and 1 ranged... say carbineer or pistoleer? Fan shot is great for PvE from what I hear. Carbineer offers a ranged kd, so you can use it to take off more melee damage. 8)

#2 I'm a crafter as well, and I don't have the skill points to pick up ranged as well.. perhaps if novice skills didn't cost so many skillpoints I could /shrug

If I had the skill points I would prolly pick up ranged as well

Get meditation instead of precition. Keeps the party rolling longer, gives you force of will, powerboost, heals wounds, poison, and disease. Def is for PVP more than PVE I think. just have some good armor, and you should be set.

I'm a swordsman that wanted meditation for a little boost and let me tell you, to go from novice brawler straight through to mediation 4 is a long grind. Its worth it, but its a long grind. Ua 4 is one of the hardest prerequisits to get, and in the meditation line you don't get any speed, accuracy, or damage. So, you're still hitting the same and with the same defense you had at novice tk. If you can bleed, or have pets it might not be so bad, but to just go through multiple sets of ubese like I did is a horrid grind.

i mastered heavy swordsman and found that i had no where to dump my "extra combat xp" so i went into precision striking for some more defense and boy does it pay off. meditation is very good but if your in need of defense and plan on using mostly swords then go 0004. if you can spend the points go 4004
