So, check it out
I was able to get a looted Genosian Reinforcement Core that had good speed, ok damage, ok HAM costs, and some wacky ranged mods. Notice it turned out as -40/-5/-40. -5 is ideal range. The HAMs are good and it is better speed than I think was obtainable before.
Note that I don't have that very good kammris iron and I think this could be made a bit better. Maybe even down to 5.2s delay.
Anyway, I'm gonna play with this toy, it definitely looks interesting.

That...could be a lot of fun if you got some good components for it. Can you take a screen of the schematic so we know what to look for? And where did you find the schematic for it? Or is it just a component that enhances it (ie you only need the Genosian Reinforcement Core and not a full schematic)?

This was just uaing a looted Geonosian Reinforcement Core in the regular Power Hammer schematic (so instead of the regular player crafted reinforcement core that normally goes there).
The core itself was:
32-35 damage (normally I get 40-40)
-.7s delay (normally I get -.56)
15 wound (normally I get 9)
0 min/max range (normally I get 8)
34 ideal range (normally I get 8)
9/6/6 HAM (normally I get 9/9/9)
There is a schematic for making these Geonosian Reinforcement Cores but it ends up resulting in different stats. I think that for a slight hit in speed and damage I could make a power hammer that might have 12-16 mind usage on it and maybe close to 100 health usage.

Is it just me or is that thing not impressive at all? Where's our ultra cool looking new weapon like those blasters?

Umm our ultra-cool new weapon is the scythe.
This is just a semi-cool way of playing around with an old thing.

Yeah I am not particularly impressed either, you would think there'd be an improvement in either min or max damage...
thx for trying I guess...

Min or max damage can be increased as well, but that would be at a loss of speed, HAM, ranged mods.
And there is a possibility that better cores would drop.
I see a lot to be impressed with though. =-)
Faster speed will make up for the small loss in damage (for those without skill tapes anyway). -5 ideal ranged mod is very nice. 19 mindHAM is also very nice. Better wounds. It's not uber, but it's a definite improvement in my mind.

Those improvements sound good on paper but I doubt you'd actually see any improvement using these over regular power hammers.

Well it leads to possibilities, and more possibilities mean more fun.

Well...at least power cores have a way to be enhanced now. And I also noticed from a screenshot on another board that sword cores have an optional enhancement slot now. Sounds good to me.

I really am enjoying these items that are geared towards melee/swordsman professions. Its refreshing to see some options out there other than the sub par rancor teeth.
