Thread: what speed maxes a master swordsman?

As it is now Im 2112 with speed +40, using a 1.7 speed curved sword I'm capped at the one second delay. What weapon speed will cap for a master swordsman? Of course the only choices I really have are this 1.7 one at 250 dmg or 2.5 speed (master weaponsmith's cap in creation it seems) sliced for damage to 337, but it's good to know

At master, with auto-attack, you'll swing just about any weapon at or just above (.1 or .2 seconds) the cap.


I'm not sure on specials... I know they don't speed cap especially with the power hammer.


If you could get enough tapes to get to oh... +95 speed, or definitely +100 speed, due to the way the speed mods in this game work you'd be able to do anything with any speed weapon at the 1.0 speed cap.

there has to be a number though, cause e.g. TKA gets +120 speed, and specials at master definately take longer then 1 sec to pull off, not much sure, but they do. I'm just talking about the weapon speed you'd need to perform default auto-attacks at master swordsman at the speed cap.

or if someone knows the formula BTW. I always thought it was (weapon speed - base speed/100), because a TKA with 120 speed is capped at 1 sec with 2.2 knucklers. 2.2 - 120/100 = 1, but 1.7 minus 40/100 is not 1, but Im capped anyway. So it has to be something different.

shoot that is not the fourmula it's sopmething diffrent one sec while i get te forumla from anouther forum

actual speed = weaponspeed [* specialdelay] * ((100 - personalspeedmod) * .01)


so 1.7*1*((100-40)*.01)=1.02


so no you are not capped at speed you are almost capped at speed but .02 doesn't matter.

btw 1 is for specialdelay because it cant' be 0 and all attacks have at lest a 1 second delay then.

also this is just from normal attacks.

so specails which i do not know what they are at your lvl will not be caped at 1 second it will be close but it wont be at the speed cap. it would just seem likie it

A TK master does all specials at the speed limit. In fact they are speed capped as soon as they hit Master Power Techniques (been there, done that). Don't be fooled by the lengthy animations like unarmed hit 3 (aka Spitting Rawl), the combatspam shows them all being done once a second.


The combat engine's speed equation is such that speed +100 is a 100% reduction in attackdelay, so anything beyond 100 is meaningless. Speed+100 would let you attack infinitely fast,except the speed limit kicks in to prevent it.


The fact that TK gets speed +120 is proofthat whoever came up with the +speed modifiers for all theprofessions, simply didn't know what they were doing. It has resulted in anomalies such as the 8 second T21 being fired faster than a 3.5 second laser carbine, and the TK artist outdamaging us, even against Heavy armor, with a modest damage sliced vibro knuckler.


Anyway...


To answer your question re: speed required to autoattack every second,this will vary with the weapon used:


2.5s two hand curved sword: speed +60 required


3.4s cleaver: speed +71 required


5.4s powerhammer: speed +82 required

A much simpler, and pretty much correct way to look at it is that +X is X% off of your weapon speed.


Thats why at master rifleman I can auto-fire with a 7.5 speed rifle at the speed cap (+90 speed) but can't do all specials at 1 second because the delay of the specials multiplied by 7.5 comes out to more than 1 if you shave 90% off of it.

The delay is longer for specials, for Swordsman.I thought you were asking about autoattack.


Speed required to hit 3 at the cap(assuming a 2.5x time factor on this move):


2h curved sword: speed +84, cleaver: speed +89, powerhammer: speed +93

93 speed.. for using a dmg sliced 5.3sec hammer doing area attack 3 and headhit3 as they have delay modifiers of 2.5. Mastering sword gives you +75% speed bonus and mastering brawler gets you +5% speed and now you gotta find skill tapes or attachments, gl .

great, thanks folks.


Reason I thought the delay was longer for specials was that the combat queue didn't seem to move to the next attack every second on some specials, guess I was wrong in timing I did notice sometimes there'd be a regular default attack between specials when I queued them right after one another, so that could be that gap I observed too.


Good to know I'll be capped with my damage sliced 2.5 speed sword as well. I could use a power hammer for more damage, but I just love the katana look so much more, so I'm gonna go for style
