Thread: Swords Template Question

Going to be making a Master Swordsman on Flurry and slightly torn between two ideas for a template, and looking for some advice. This character would mostly be for high end PvE, and perhaps some PvP, if I find I enjoy it, but is much less of a consideration for me than PvE (elders, etc)

Template #1:

Master Swordsman

TKA 4304

Fencer 4400

Medic 4040

FS Melee Speed IV

FS Melee Accuracy III

This would cap out Ranged and Melee Defense, give me good defenses vs kd and posture down, as well as the ever so useful Meditate for wound healing in the field (and since I play odd hours, finding medics in the medic center isn't all that easy), as well as Force of Will, if/when I do PvP.

Template #2:

Master Swordsman

TKA 0304

Fencer 4400

Medic 2140

FS Melee Speed IV

FS Melee Accuracy IV

Master Brawler

Same defenses, but giving up Meditate in order to pick up Master Brawler, which would allow Intimidate 2, Warcry 2, Two Hand Lunge 2, as well as 5 more Two Handed Speed (placing me even closer to the cap), longer CoB, a bit more 2-Handed Toughness, etc.

So, from all of you experts in the great art of Swordsmanship, which would suggest?

As much as I love meditate, I'd have to go with MBrawler I think. You might want to consider def vs. Dizzy rather than def vs. posture/kd - falling over doesn't mean a thing if they can't stick dizzy on you

I´ve done some templates witch includes master sword myself....was master sword/fencer/pistoleer 1043/nov. medic...had build master brawler/tka|pike/swords/medic 2040....done master sword/rifle...for me overall the best with swords is doc...since pvp is only about landing dots and watch the ham gone within a few seconds its very value to be able to cure all those nasty dots...while pve all the defense helps next to nothing cause those high-end-mobs having freaking high accuracy and they dont miss u...even with high def. vs. stats i got dizzy, blinded and stuned....so for me its better to be able to cure those stats when i need it....another nice thing is that i can buff myself....

Mastered Professions so far: * Brawler *TKA * Fencer * Swordsman * Pikeman * Marksman * Rifleman * Scout * Creature Handler * Medic

I'd take template 2 over template 1 any day, master brawler is really nice to have and for pve it should work out just fine.

I have been Master Swords/Master Doc for nearly a year now and there is no other profession in the game right now that would even remotely make me change my mind. You can heal all state effects, heal massive amounts of damage, cure poison/disease, and stop bleeding. The only draw back is the lack of defenses but I feel that the doc abilities more than make up for it in PvE. I solo elders regularly, have solo'd a krayt, and other high end mobs with relative ease.

In PvP, Swords/Doc is no chump, but it takes some creative game play to be effective. There is a very good post on this forum with some great advice about PvP for swords that has helped me alot. Ultimately, it is about what you want to do, but I don't think you can go wrong with swords/doc for PvE.

Master brawler is really nice for swordsman. I would do template 2, but honestly, I would take 4300 in TKA instead. With 4400 in Fencer and your swordsman defense, you'll have respectable melee/ranged defense. (I admit it won't be maxed) But I find the meditation line to be extremely useful. Getting rid of wounds in the middle of a hunting expedition is nice. Especially when you get a couple bleeds on you and find yourself with 200+ wounds. But if you had to choose between meditation and master brawler, master brawler is MUCH better.

Definitally. It helps so much it is rediculous. Gotta love the ability to take of bleeds after some grinding.
