You can buff at doctor 0/2/0/0 just need the enhance skill - you will have 55 in medicine use at novice doctor - just have the experiment the skill use a bit down - its worthless imo - until you have at least 80 or 90 in medicine use - before that the buffs just plain suxs !

Going for :

Master Sword

Master Brawler

CH 4/4/0/4 (guess that will change -when CH changes)

Scout 4/0/4/0 (well that comes with CH

Novice medic

Got a friend who is almost Master Doctror - so getting buffs from him - else I would do Master Sword / Master Doctor

Swordsman/Combat Medic-This is what I am going for. You may think why didn't I just choose doctor instead, as melee attacks subtract from the ranged capabilities of combat medic and doctors are able to buff and rez. My reasons are this. A combat medic has access to the area stim. These are excellent when fighting in a group of melee fighters/pets. This way you can not only heal yourself, but the other people in your group. Also, two words: mind poisons. Couple these with a mind bleed and its deadly, especially to doctors and other combat medics in battle, as well as any other profession.

ive been through a lot of templates in search for my favorite, and all the time sticking with master swordsman since its by far my most favorite.

rifleman, master swordsman, ch

carbineer, doctor (i could self buff), master swordsman, scout

smuggler, teras kasi, master swordsman, medic, scout

and finally the one i just finished up: master brawler, teras kasi, master swordsman, medic, scout.

ive always kept scout and medic cause i like healing my peeps and keepin up with them while traveling and hunting.

i like the smuggler/swordsman and the master brawler/swordsman templates the best. smuggler/swordsman was better for me when it came to pvp, but i think ill stick with the master brawler/swordsman template cause its better for tanking for my friends. also i love the master brawler abilities.

btw, my exact current template is: scout 3-0-0-0, master brawler, teras kasi artist 4-4-0-4, master swordsman, medic 3-0-4-0.

Funny thing u mention Ranger/HSMen. I am currently a master ranger/master ch but before I mastered both those skill trees I had dropped rifleman and picked up brawler and had fun with heavy swordsman up to 1101. And if sony would give me a MELEE Creature-to-hit bonus, not just ranged, I would have probably stuck with Ranger/HS cause I would deliver an even stronger hit to any creature just cause of sheer knowledge. But since sony decided to dork over rangers and make it a ranged only bonus.. well they lost my interest in doing HS/Ranger. BUT I now have HS on my second account, Working on Master HS/Master Brawler/Master CH and my primary character still has Master Ch/Master Ranger..... lol.. 6 GSP's make a great pack of power to take on the great and wild creatures of these worlds we travel.

Ok, I just finished a post regarding Swordsman templates in a thread called "Versatile Swordsman Template" And it got me thinking. After doing alot of reading on this thread, there are basically 4 types of swordsman that i've seen. I'm gonna run down some pros and cons for those of you building your characters, and just to spark some character building discussion.

1. Swordsman/Doctor. -This basically sucks up all your skill points. It lets you run around buffed all day in heavy armor and heal yourself nonstop until you run out of mind. A little drugs and that problem usually fixes itself. This is a very powerful combination that has proven itself in PvE over and over.

2. Melee Defense Swordsman -Basically these guys just take the defensive lines from the other brawler elite professions (mostly TKA and Fencer) and stack them for good results. usually throwing in basic medic skills to boot. Theres a lot of play in this build as you can either take more status defenses (stun, knockdown, dizzy etc..) or just straight up melee defense. which last I heard acts as a negative hit modifier for the other guy. Properly tuned this build seems to work well in PvP and PvE alike. Very solid.

3. Swordsman/CH -Basically the power of a swordsman coupled with the defensive nature of the CH. Let the pet take the damage, while you dish it out. Really any combination + CH is good. But with the sheer output of damage swordsman can do, this seems to be very effective for solo PvE.

4. Swordman/Ranged Hybrid. - Not as prevalent on the boards yet, but I think theres some real potential here. So far from what i've tried adding smuggler + pistoleer to your game adds feign death and a ranged knockdown. I use this currently and it's awesome. If you dabble in Rifle for mind bleeds, you can stack 4 seperate bleeds for some massive bleeding. Way above and beyond what commandos can do with that flame thrower. And I'm about to experiment in the Carbineer line for it's counterattack bonuses. if that works a COB based attack plan could be very useful.

So thats it. Just some observations and notes. New swordsman may wanna gleam some ideas from here, and everybody else may want to comment on their own personal experiences or templates. People like templates. hehe.. at least lazy people. Enjoy.

Actually, the commando can get FOUR burns(FlameSingle 1/2 + Flame Cone 1/2)on a person at master commando. Lots of fun to see 4 burns in succession on something like a krayt or a kimo. Just a comment that had to be made. BTW, I'm a Swordsman/Commando, and I'm loving it. It's not exactly greatskillpoint-wise, but I'm having a lot of fun with these classes.
