The part that really gets me:

Krayts: Huntable anytime.
Gorax: Huntable anytime
Great for ranged.

Krayts: Can drop pearls anytime
Force Sensitive/Nightsisters/DJK/DJMs: Huntable anytime for Crystals
Great for Jedi

Acklay: ONLY EVERY 2 HOURS
Geo Caves: Looted components just don't stach up. You MIGHT be able to add 25 min and Max damage.
Melee gets the shaft.

Anyone see the problem here?? A ranged prof can go out and loot-whores to upgrade their gear at anytime, so can jedi. Melee is stuck doing it once every two hours in ONE LOCATION. Something is not right.

A proposed fix:
KimoGilla Bones
Make them like Krayt tissue: Same stat range, same drop rate, same modifications. Kimos can drop scales, like Krayts, why not make them drop tissues or Bones or something??

just let krayts drop Krayt Bones or something to

Even that would work....

the acklay is the boss of a hard dungeon and is pretty much guaranteed to drop something good everytime. it is a boss which spawns in 1 location and can be found there all the time.

if the acklay respawned with no timer acklay stuff would lose value because i would get there and kill like 20 of them in and hour or less

Tell me, how often did you kill the acklay? I assume you never did, or at least did very rarely. It pretty much has the same drop percentage as krayt dragons. Sometimes drops a bone, sometimes drops nothing. With a 2 hour spawn at the bottom of a dungeon, I believe it is pretty much innaceptable to have him drop nothing, let alone the fact that bones under 140+ damage are pretty much worthless, because you can only experiment on damage using them. End result; high damage, high sac, high speed. Not a good trade off.

killed it 4 times got something every time and since it is a static spawn it isnt too hard to find. w/o a timer people would kill it all day, im guessing it would get killed over 100 times a day

I have to get a pre-curb baton or a quest weapon

none of the new batons come close to the pre-curb ones. I want a custom uba baton made

I believe the point that the OP is trying to make though is that there shouldn't be a trick or special method just to come up with a "decent" version of our only normally craftable elite weapon when everyone else can get their choice of mods on multiple weapons all of which surpass anything we can use. It shouldn't require a 12 pt master smith with rareand hard to get loot to make a decent PH that isn't a burden to use.

I do fine with my PH as well but that's because I have to. Some versatility would be nice.

What components went into making that one? and is the SAC pupped?

Yah, that has to be SAC pup'd because the Cap is 82 last time I checked. One thing that does look funky is that the min damage is over the craftable cap of 594. Maybe the slicing cap is actually higher than craftable.

Its possible to craft decent Power Hammers now. Red Geo Cubes are the key. On my roommate's 11pt WS (and without server best resources, since he just uses it to craft weapons for himself) Iused a -14 SAC Geo Cubes anda +10 damage Geo Solidifying agent to make a Power Hammer with 2.8 spd, 502-1018 damage and a SAC of 96 (I think...maybe it was 95).

I'm sure a 12pt WS with those cubes, better Solidifying agents and better resources could get a lower speed, more damage and a lower SAC. And Geo Cubes are easy to come by (relatively speaking). It'll probably take an 8% damage slice to get near the cap, but with Illegal Core Boosters becoming fairly common, the price of that slice should drop to affordable levels. So far I just have a 4% damage slice and a 2% Speed slice on mine and with SAC PuPs I have my SAC down to 67 with an accuracy penalty of -6 on the weapon.

With a SAC in the 60's, some Blob Candy and the Action buffs I was able to run 2-3 Specials, a default attack, and then the Specials again (with the occasional heal thrown in) and rarely was low on Action. It was a nice change of pace.

Ever since I came back I was suprised at hoe many people were using ranged weapons. When I told groups I was going to be a melee class they instantly tried to talk me out of it. Things switched since I left. TKAs/Swords and even Fencers were the top classes. Now it seems Rifle and Carbineer have taken that place so I'm glad other people noticed this. Kind of depressing.....

Ive always been in love with melee professions in SWG over ranged just because of the animations and tankability. The CU changed that alot though and it is noticable that all melee are second rate in damage but have slightly better defenses. On my server its impossible to find any of the power hammers you lot are talking about because 12pt weaponsmiths just arent making them. TK had a big shaft, so did fencer as its so neglected, pike is average.

in real life, what do you think would take more effort, squeseing a trigger or swinging a hunge sledge hammer?

you can hold a sledge hammer and i will hold an automatic gun, we will see which does more damage in 2 seconds, in real life.

I think the system is more realistic now than it was pre cu where we could hit someone while they shot us and we would win. keep in mind, this is coming from a total melee player.

lol I bet you wouldnt get up from being shot once irl, that is a really really bad analogy.
