why would u want pike if ur master swords? just wondering it wont make u better in pve or pvp

I'd agree that Pike won't give you much in PvE, since Swordsman can slaughter most things easily (point taken about DWB though).

However, the big thing that Pikeman gives you in PvP is access to some nasty DoTs that are almost impossible to obtain for Swordsman.

from my own expierence u dont need any pike skil to use a pike dot weapon. also isent that u can use a NS lance with pike 3?

tested it on a tusken rifle that i looted (have no marksman) and the poison did hit.

Huh, that's odd. I tried it with a duel between my two chars, and couldn't get a pike DOT to stick, not once. In any case, in PvP you won't hit a melee opponent with a pike if you're uncertified, or just have the Brawler pike skills - you also won't get all the tasty AoE and state attacks.

Ranged/melee defences become moot, but Def vs States is HUGE. Out of 20 krayts and 15 night sister elders i have faught since getting my dizzy and kd defence to 100, i have only ever been dizzy/kded once, and it lasted for about 10 seconds. I still get knocked down occasionaly, proably about 4 times per krayt dragon, but i basically never go down for the count. I rarely get blinded (+80 defence) and i cannot recall being stunned (+100). I always look over at the states in the group and see all kinds of crappy stuff going on with them. Me, on the other hand, i get the occasional state, but they generally clear right up, and i am back to just a little red x next to my name.

Your Def vs States must work better than mine then. I currently have +125 vs Stun and I get stunned by Elders pretty much right away. However, the point I was trying to make is that Def Vs States dont matter in PvE becuase PvE is simple. No one worries about being blinded or even KD'd during PvE. If you get KD'd, just let your armor absorb the damage, get up, drop a StimD and go back to work. NPC Mobs aren't capable of using states to their advantage, like a PC toon will.

Do I get KD'd in PvE occasionally? Yup. Does it matter? Nope. I am usually back on my feet in under 10 seconds. If you die in PvE, it will be becuaseof a Cascade of Hatered from an Elder with a Powerhammer that hits you for 8K+ damage. There's no way around that. On the other hand, unless you are a very new player, getting knocked on your butt a few times is not the end of the world.

It all boils down to how you play. Are there better builds than swordsman/pikeman? Yup. I like it though. I have stacks of DOT lances and high damage LVAs that allow me to use it to my advantage.

So, once again, for PvE, Def vs States is a moot issue. Not having stacked Def vs. States is at worst, mildly annoying.

Yes, should have explained

We've been doing more and

more corvette and Death Watch

stuff over the last while, and I'm

sick of seeing that low electrical

resist and swinging away with

a scythe to get through the 80%

Kinetic

So I was thinking of trying

pike solely for the LVA.

And I agree, there isn't much

a speed capped swordsperson

can't take on by themselves

I'll be giving up a tonne of

Fencer Defences and likely

Meditate to pick up Pike..

Just trying to get some

feedback if anyone thinks

it's worth it.

well, O smart one, err should i say dumbass, you are thinking of a VL, it has electric damage, the LVA has kinetic just like all the others.................

"I WIN AT STAR WARS"

Is a big inside joke on shadowfire. Big inside joke, kind of contradicts itself, but any avid forum troll over there knows what I'm talkin about.

Pike is where it's at for PvP, sadly enough =/
