Thread: Swordman in PvP
have u ever actually tried a head hit three with a power hammer on your local tka??, dont think so.
wow u do 300 or lower dmg and then ur screwed because ur either on the ground from kd/dizzy or u gotta heal cause they got ur health down to around 200 already.
ahhh the almighty ken'dreck is back, lol. i understand ur buffs stand up to tkm even when ur dizzy/kd'd. ummm, yeaaa, right.
well returning to the original post, i recomend using a power hammer on commandos and rifleman, and then cleavers and 2-handed curved on everyone else. use the 2-handed for the kd (master brawler) or lunge, switch to cleaver and get the mind bleed off only if u think u can get them while they are kd'd or kneeling for the dmg bonus, other wise go all out with head hit 3's.
mouns are a wise decision if ur also a high levle medic and plan on healing urself during the fight, and its a must when facing any rifleman whos worth a dang. lol and if u happen upon another swordsman itll be wise too, but u dont really need it if u got master brawler.
w/o master brawler and w/o a supplementary ranged knockdown u need to lunge 1 and mind bleed, chase and try and get as many head hits off as possible or, even bettter, run into a building and hide ur self. if they are smart theyll run away, but some will chase after u or wait out side. once their mind ham gets down to 1 run out and spam lunge 1, not for the posture down but just for that 1 mind dmg. ull probly get it on the first lunge.
if ur a master brawler, life in pvp (and pve) is a lot easier. lunge 2, warcry2 (twice if u dont get it off the first try), mind bleed, head hits the rest of the way. theyll probly be dead in around 10 seconds, soo u wont drain ur ham too much. also, if ur facing tkas, use intimidate, for some wierd reason it zaps their defense and u can take em down pretty easily.
if ur a master brawler chasing a rifleman warcry em, then spam lunge 2 till when u get near within distance, and then the fights over, done with, u win. commandos are a joke if u got master brawler. theyll miss half the time and they have no defese, just kd and head hit 3, there dead in one or two hits.
well, thats all i have to offer, good luck to u swordsman.
ur 0101 and ur thinking u can beat a TKA? Your sword is so slow right now, you dont have any of our best specials (no mindhit 2, no head hit 3, etc...) and ur trying to PvP?
Swordsman can be good in PvP but u at least have to be a Master. Since I've made master I've been alot better in PvP but your still gonna have a hard time against TKA and other melee combos. Its about 50/50 for me now.
At 0101, a master brawler will destroy you.
My advise is master swordsman first. Any novice melee profession is going to lose to the almighty TKA. Especially a Master TKA.
ok i already posted this in another thread but still...
To adress the pvp issue, my view on it is that we are battlefield/monster fighters and not pvp fighters, i kinda like it that way... When on a battle field buddy up with 2-3 other swordsmen and go after any TKA u see, my bet is he will be down before he even hits his KD or dizzi action button..... as to monsters this is what realy made me go for master swordsman, ive only been playing for 3 weeks and im master brawler - 3-3-3-3 swordsman and already i think im doing pretty well in soloing....
To sum this up i like the swordsman as it is (with a few exeptions eg, HAM cost for specials) you just have to use your adv's and i think we have some great once!!!
I dont do pvp because thats not what a swordsman does, he shines on a big battlefield and agains monsters but lacks the finess to take out single high level opponents in pvp combat
TKA are so easy to beat as a swordsman, it's not even funny.
For all you doctors out there, just make a macro that makes you stand and cure dizzy. Voila, dizzy/KD is now null and void. Just mind bleed and run, and TKA is one dead weakling.
Plus you can wear armor, which basically rapes the TKA's damage. Also, if you have master brawler, you can warcry 2 and intimidate 2. And in my case, they can't even hit me with dizzy/KD, because I counterattack so much.
And evenif I do get dizzy/KDed, I can usually stand up from it like 80% of the time.
Swordsman are awesome in PvP. It just takes tactics.
Area attack 3 is very very bad in PvP. You don't want to waste your posture down on them. You need to save it in case they run, in which case you can lunge 1.
Basically, if someone is over 20m away from me and is ranged, I hide behind something and wait for them to come closer. If they come within 20m or so, then you can charge out and lunge them, then run up and smack them with a bleeder.
If you bleed someone and they run away and escape, just end combat and hop on a speeder. It's always fun to run people down. hehehe
i feel riduculously weak as a swordsman in pvp, without buffs and composite armor
if ur in clothing and never buffed at all like i am all the time, its kinda like that story about the tka's: if they have a gun, they can kill you; if they have a BIG gun, they can kill you FAST
tka's are the only real melee problem i experience, and perhaps the fencers with dodge tapes in every socket they can possibly use... commandos make the swordsman experience fun
overall swordsman is good for pvp, better when you get close to a guy without armor, even better when the balances come out *cough*
yep i really hinted to getting knocked around ken'dreck, lol, suggest u read my post again.
you shouldnt even dream of being effective in pvp untill u get at least 3-3-3-2 in swordsman, since then ull have head hit 3, mind bleed, melee mitigation 2, and the defenses from the third box of the attacks tree.
o and im really sorry im the one who has to tell you this, but u gotta wear armor. 50% of the time when im roaming around and just looking for imps i have a set of 60% resist kinetic and laser (or energy, not ingame right now) and around 35 for all the rest, but when i was defending cities and such, like minos on tarq, my guild usually turns up to fight, and ill get master doc buffed and put on my 80% composite armor. but i usually have an easy time with those battles, since my targets initially are the ppl who my master combat medic friend just mind poisoned, lol, and i juts run after em and knock em down and let em have a few head hit 3, there usually dead by then.
use ubese if u cant get buffed, use comp if u can, thats what id suggest.
if ur a low level swordsman forced to pvp (defending a base or hometown), ill give u a list of professions to try and avoid on the field:
rifleman
teras kasi masters
master brawlers
high level fencer (most like to have their little bladesman title equiped, dont try em)
combat medics
master bounty hunters
and thats about it, except i suggest u stay away from masters of any combat profession, hehe
