Thread: Our special moves aren't worth it

I agree with you for the most part. In absolute terms, if the game was balanced for everyone having similar HAM costs such that they could only use specials under "special" circumstances, as you described, it would be the norm and nobody would have an issue. However, as it stands, relative to other classes (except maybe Pikemen), our weapon HAM costs are much much higher. So, while other classes run around using their specials all the time, we rarely and sometimes never do because it costs so much.

I agree with you that you can get around the costs, and if you do, it's really not that debilitating. I just think that we shouldn't have to when 90% of other combatants do not have these drastic penalties.

I hope that makes sense,

One note, I am ranger, so if it gets close I adhesive mesh and rest then kill.

Your downtime must be high, though, especially when the spice wears off.

That was my real point here, that specials, even when useful, just give you more downtime than it's worth.

It's a percentage thing. I do a move that costs me 120 action and it hits the mob for 1000 damage rather than 350. 120 action for 650 more damage sounds great!

Except that 120 action is like 15% of my action pool and 1000 damage is like 10% of the creature's health.

So in terms of HAM, I hurt myself more than I hurt it.

aye downtime on spice but no downtime on food / drinks, i only use spice on very hard stuff for that reason, i still have stam and strength over 5k with the drinks at times...

I do agree with you though, just saying there are ways to offset currently. The WC fix and ham cost fix of the next patch look very promising and I'm getting anxious to try it out.

**edit** the lack of edit!

You would be amazed what a 5k+ stamina does. My action regenerates so fast its nuts. I can't get it to drop at all using specials.

I agree. The HAM costs are a little high. With the sword I have now it hurts my action bar a good bit. I sometimes need to pull out specials when I'm being attacked by a whole mob of wrix's or slice hounds. My special attacks hurt a little to much. I am working on novice swordsman btw.

Yeah, but it's always mind pool that I'm waiting on and I don't think there's a chef food that does a good willpower buff. I don't know where it's coming from exactly, but chaining Swordman specials slowly brings my mind pool down such that I'm sitting on my butt for 2 minutes or more. Almost makes me wish I was a Zabrak.

I actually wish they'd fix chefs so they have more than like the 2 good items they have now. If they had a drink that would give +1000 willpower and let you drink like 3 of them, I'd be all over that.

That would probably be the difference, I am Zabrak...
