I don't know why people keep mentioning katana's the curved sword is a katana.

I attended a karate seminar today, and as luck would have it the instructor was using a katana. At points he used it two-handed and at other times one-handed. So I must concur with the above poster who stated it as such.

In Japanese cinema, you almost always see the katana wielded as the only weapon. The wielder varies between single and double-handed, with double-handed being the preferred stance. For instance, a draw leading into an attack is a single-handed maneuver, but standing ready for a fight is two-handed.
Likewise, kendo based anime focuses on the two-handed katana technique.
Mind you, Japanese cinema can be as inaccurate as Hollywood, but I trust the Japanese to know their traditions of the katana better than we do, even if a bit dolled up for the silver screen.

I'd personally like the see a spiked ball on a chain... slow attack speed, high ham cost, heavy AR, high min, normalish max.
