acklay hammers rock. i'd take the 200+ min/max damage over better range mods any day.
use citros snowcake. and intimidate/stun the fencer if you can.

the reason for sythes it their +9 accuracy at all ranges (thats what mine is at least) compared to -40 on an acklay hammer. fencers have lots of dodge/melee defense, which means accuracy is going to be a big factor in hitting them. i'd much prefer a good solid say, 2/3 hit ratio with fair damage (with a sythe) over a 1/5 ratio with potentially high damage (with a hammer) i don't bother with snow cake-thakatillo, canape, and steak is the way to go

If you use your PH and areaattack3 you can dizzy KD the fencer aswell. And Rember there only H or A or M hit is health or they can do scatterhit keep that in mind. (get a imp sheild gen with 45% stun aswell

synthsteak is absolutely pointless if you are fighting a fencer while you are wearing a psg and good stun armor. a 300 min damage stun baton will only do about 20 damage per hit with the effects of mitigation, stun armor, stun psg factored in. surviving their damage is not the problem, hitting them is.I've got one char whos a master swordsman and doc, and another whos a master fencer and doc, so I know how to do things from both sides of the fence. i've got alot of accuracy tapes and AAs, so i don't worry about the range mods on my weapons. if you dont have any additional accuracy though, and/or are not speed capped, a scythe might be the thing to try.

You do know it takes 40% off the attack not 40 off damage so it should be about 10 he will be doing to you but you have to rember fencers dont normaly just stay fencer they willl have good temp.

Dmg sliced Scythe. Need 85spd to cap a 2.6spd scythe on HH3.
Stun armor and PSG.
Intimidate.
2-3 brandy, double-buff vercupti as needed.
I'm a doc as well, so I laugh at DoT's

what? yes i know its a percentage... 20 dmg vs 12 dmg is a negligable difference... neither doing 12dmg per second nor 20 dmg per second is going to kill you, so why waste stomach space reducing 20 dmg down to 12 dmg... he cant hurt you anyways without dots.

What would you all suggest for someone with my setup?
I've been bouncing between the ideas of PvP setup of:
Master Doc/Swords 0443/Fencer 0400 for some resistance to KD/posture change with most of the key swords abilities, but I lose any harvesting skills that I want for the doc crafting.
OR the PvE setup of:
Master Doc/Master Swords/Novice Scout
I prefer PvE side of things for now, but I want to help guild in their PvP operations. I can't deal or heal damage when on my back and any fencer I've gone up against can keep me knocked down almost constantly.
Should I give up hope of defending against the dreaded dizzy if I go with my PvE template? The duels with fencers have always been frustrating for me, though I finally smashed one over the head enough times recently to incap him with mindhits and headhits, but only after I was KD 800 times.
Is there a food or something to help defend against these guys? What other professions are as good at knocking us down that I should watch out for?
I don't recommend your PvP setup. Not having master will hurt you in the speed and accuracy department. I have your PvE setup and do well in PvP, though you need a lot of attachments to do really well.
/healstate self dizzy
/stand
Put the above 2 lines in a macro and mash the button repeatedly. If they don't keep doing a dizzy attack, eventually you'll heal your dizzy with it and stand up.

All the above is good advice... But the biggest thing is the weapon you use. I use my Hack it has 395 max damage no powerup and only 15 mind costs so with 2 brandy I have no mind costs... Then sweep2 and lung2 then attack the mind
