I dont think there even should be any melee classes, there are no melee classes in star wars except jedi. The only reason I think there should be a melee is that not everyone enjoys ranged some people like melee. IM SWITCHING TO RIFLEMAN.

Most tkm suck cause all they can do is use their kd/dizzy BUT I have food that is 97.6 defense vs knockdown so hehe theyve had some trouble using it. Im a master swordsman also so I have +20 extra defense vs knockdown, im unstoppable...... well at least while I have space in my stomach

Agree

Master Swordsman + meditation4 (tka)+ scout exploration4 = Ninja-assasin = fun stuff... sneaking, running, and BACKSTABING! ONE HIT MELEE DEATHBLOWS! WOooHOo!
Maybe some cool shadow effect while sneaking too... id freaking love it.

Add that to my wishlist... witch just depresses me more cuz the devs just dont have the vision of what this game COULD BE, that we players do.

What about a Samurai class? Honor over anything else

Maybe a duel weild class...(two swords)!

maybe an axe class....????

maybe an class with other medievil style weapons?

a knife class(throwing and assasinating?):.. Uhhh... yeah.. an assasin + steatlh class would rule

I read a while ago that there was some talk of letting swordmans use 2 swords at the same time. This idea was dismissed very quickly and many people said give it to fencer. Carrying on the theme of the topic have a hybrid class that would be swordman and fencer.

This class would take up all but (if i have worked it out right) 13 skill points left. The class would have the same DPS as swordman but using 2 swords would left them use the fencers defencve skills. Once hte class was mastered would have amazing defence stats, using 2 swords will let the char move alot more, while also causing massive amount of damage with both swords. draw backs would be that no other proffion could be picked up not even medic, and i am guessing the class overall would be weak to ranged players.

I like the idea of a hybrid melee proffesion but i think that it would be near impossible for the devs to put a new proffesion in the game

we must also keep in mind that there will never be an elite profession that requires you to master parts or whole other elite professions. You have to stick to starting classes as your basic template, and also keep in mind the SWness of it all.

Ninja? What would they do that's 1, not already in the game (e.g. poison) and 2, is not against the SW continuity (this ain't fuedal Japan, as much as a lot of us melee fighters would enjoy it to be)

I mentioned in the brawler forums version of this thread (this post has been made by the original poster in the brawler, fencer, pikeman, swordsman and TKA forums) that I think it might be doable to make a dual-wielding profession, requiring master brawler. You would have the ability to use 2 one-handed swords at novice, with a combined max speed (indication of weight) of 4, maybe lower. At the advanced combat XP box you would get the ability to use a one handed and a two-handed sword at the same time, at master you would use two two-handed swords together, combined max speed of no more then 6, though 5 might be a better limitation.

This allows us to go the (meant with respect) kung-fu way, with 2 lightning fast swords, the samurai way with a katana and wakizashi, the musashi way with two katana's, but NOT the completely bogus double-hammer way, which is also good. Limiting the speed alowed in your combination (goes up .1 points every box, with another .4 at master, making the difference between novice and master speed 2) will also limit the damage you can do.

The speed of your attacks will be the slowest weapon you're wielding, the combined speed is unacceptable due to the incredibly fast nature of these sword styles.

One thing though: this class will have the same speed as swordsman if you use two curved swords(which is pretty fast), more damage then swordsman because you're using two 340 dmg weapons instead of 1, how are we going to nerf it down to be balanced? One might argue that it shouldn't be balanced with the other melee professions, because using two swords simply is more powerful, but then we have to keep them in check some other way. Ranged beats melee at range, melee beats ranged at point blank. Melee can't beat melee without giving one melee a disadvantage in another field.
