Thread: WEEKLY EMAIL TO THE DEVS: 07/25/03
Sounds good Gorecki.
I'll probably look in to buying a cleaver today. I may just take off of work a bit early. Lazy friday. ![]()
Little late post but something that i noticed is that with Spin attack 2 and Area 1 no reason to get Spin attack 2 it does little if any more damage then Area 1 but area also has lower posture.
second problem with this is that spin attack 2 is in defense line but what does it have to do with defense seems more like a offensive move by just spining and more damage compared to the offensive Area damage/posture change possible to get like itimiade or stun connected with spin to accualy make it a defensive move?
same with sweep 2 and other area one but at least sweep 2 does posture change maybe make it do knock down maybe even do intimidate or so cuz of right now no use in using it over area 2 or 3 when those do same and area 3 supposedly does dizzy and all that plus more damage???? not that far just got first tree in swordsman so far any feedback might help
but overall i am disappointed in the defense line of our tree it isn't all that defensive with special compared to offensive tree
Swordsman class needs:
- Heavyvibro sword, 1H swords with reduced HAM damage but reduced attack damage
- there should be more sword options than axe/hammer options in the class
-Swordsman is not necessarily 2H, it's just not a light-handed fencing weapon
- ability to carry energy shields, or normal shields, shields should be able to deflect a certain amount of range damage.
- shields encourage change of weapons (when up against ranged attackers using mindshots, swordsman changes from 2H sword to 1H sword with shield)
- swordsmen, as fitter, strong characters, should be able to outrun and catch non-melee classes
- sticky melee needed to compensate for server lag (especially in PvP)
- master 2H sword should include a run efficiency bonus of 25% (to catch other classes)
- swordsman should get better health and action to compensate for wearing armor.
- melee defense should increase arithmatically with skill; grubbers and butterflies should not be touching a swordsman)
- sword defense I and higher should introduce low HAM cost defensive postures, so that melees can defend successfully but cause less damage (e.g. tank against creatures). e.g. an opposite of "Berserk"
- sword offense I needs stun attack
That's top of my head.
I've posted this in previous threads. So others can see who haven't read them. These are my ideas....(just copied and pasted)
I'm now a master heavy swordsman on Bria. And for quite some time, I have noticed that our defensive attacks seem to be the same as our offensive attacks. Sweep2+Spin2 = Area2. Etc. I feel that this needs to be changed. Area3 makes all the defensive attacks useless.
I have a few suggestions as to what the defensive column of the Heavy Swordsman profession should be.
Spin2: Area + Dizzy + posture change (little or no dmg increase)
Sweep2: Single Target + Knockdown (little or no dmg increase)
I honestly feel that my ideas on the defensive attacks are reasonable and aren't making our profession godly. I have spoken to CSR-Jwells and he feels that the defensive attacks are a copy of the offensive attacks minus the dmg+blind from Area3. Also, it has come to my attention that almost every other profession has a knockdown. So, I feel that Sweep2 should be a single target + a knockdown as well. For a defensive attack, I strongly feel that my ideas are good and should be taken into account.
Please, feel free to make any suggestions on this.
Also, my Area3 attack doesn't seem to be working correctly. It is using up more ham, a different attack name, but the dmg/attack animation is the same as Area2. And, it's not blinding like it should be. Please, developers look into this.

Soren:
Could you maybe please give me a more concrete example and maybe point out why it is stressing you out so much ?
My experience is that usually non-aggroing inferior creatures run away when i'm approaching them.
Thanks
Gorecki
bump... really am sick of lowbie creatures even being able to touch me
