Boy, can I sure tell I've got a LOT to re-learn. I started this game on day three with the sole intention of becoming a Jedi, and IMO, the only character class for me was swordsman, just because it was the most similar in that it also used swords. Within the month, I realized nobody on Corbantis made swords worth a dang (IMO- sorry, but they all focused on ranged weapons) so I actually bought a second account for the sole purpose of making the best swords in the galaxy. As far as I knew, back in April of last year (when I quit and gave the accounts away), I was making the best. However, I don't recall my numbers being anything like these.
I don't recall the names I gave my swords (though I might still have some notes on it somewhere, or it might even still be online here), but my unsliced speed was down to 2.4 and max damage (if I recall - I paid much more attention to speed, personally) was somewhere around 248-255 or something like that; obviously nothing like this. After slicing (I had a smuggler friend do something like 200 of my swords - I also ground to master architect just to build supplies to support the sword-building obsession), best speed was 1.6, but of course damage never improved.
If you guys don't mind re-educating a noob (who was formerly an old-timer) how do you get stats this high? My materials were all 975 or over in their relevant stats, and the steel I used (the major component) was at 994 or 997.
Being half-Japanese, I just about peed myself when I found katanas in the game, so of course I only used them, regardless of what other weapons might be more powerful.
Oh, one last point... I'd be curious to know whether my theory is true as to whether I was the first person ever to name his swords? I know that I purchased two swords from another master weaponsmith (prior to buying the second account and making Yukimitsu) and requested that he name those two for me, but as I recall, I never saw anyone on Corbantis (other than me) naming their weapons. It'd be quite gratifying to know that I started a trend, if that were really true.
I grinded with my cleaver til i got the Techniques tree, then went with my 525-max, 4 speed Hammer to master. I know grinding with a hammer is supposedly a big no-no, but I was done in under a week. Really helps to hit for 2500-4000 damage per hit, even if it IS slow.

i cant remember what mine is off hand..but im bidding on one that is almost 500max dmg

Forgot about that stuff, as I never used them myself. As a solo player (I know, I know... why do you play an MMORPG if you're going to be totally antisocial? My shrink doesn't understand it either), I couldn't even begin to take on some of those things. Ditto with holos (hence the reason I quit).
yes, thats correct waldo, you can make some very nice swords with good rancor teeth (krayt tissue isfor ranged stuff only)- for example on my fencer character on flurry i have a 1 handedcurved sword which is player made and 372 max damage after a slice - ive seen some 294 max damage 2h swords on farstar, but im guessing with very good rancor teeth you could get them upto 330-350 pre slice? get a lucky damage slice and 500md in the DWB would be very nice indeed eh!
