Thread: Rating today's changes
As to your weaponsmith questions ...
The core was not an optional component before (item did not even exist) so they weren't used in hammers until this patch
Using an advanced core the HAM came out higher than my pre-patch power hammers (damage of course was higher as well)
1 - No difference same Health Cost w/ my old power hammer.
2- Power hammer increase this stat (Damage and Speed), little increase of stats cost (but can be lowered w/ experimentation). The weapon after patch is slightly better ... nothing compared to the Commando BH new weapon (Stupid DEVS)
3- Nothing ... the core add more Ham than patch's reduction-
4- Dunno
5- Defensive What? Are all broken.
6- Not at all ... in duel w/ a master pistoleer friend there is not difference in accurancy.
7- Not at all ... Lunge cost a lot like pre-patch.
Really disappointed w/ this S H I T T Y patch.
The Power Hammers I crafted last night were 135-455 damage, 5.5 speed. That puts them at roughly 53.6 DPS. By comparison, the Two Handed Curved Swords are 61-242, 2.6 speed, which is roughly 58.2 DPS.
The line about HAM costs being lowered shouldn't have even been there...it's just gonna confuse the hell out of you guys that aren't Weaponsmiths. Basically, pre-patch Power Hammers didn't take the Reinforcement Core (in fact, the core didn't evne exist). Since the new Power Hammers DO take this Core, and since the Core itself adds to HAM, what they did was lower the base HAM on the Power Hammer, so when you stick in a Core, the HAM is about the same as it always was. If you're using an Advanced Core (which I am), the HAM cost is slightly higher than pre-patch.
So, in the end, the Power Hammer is going to have the same HAM costs as always...they'll be a little higher if an Advanced Core is used (but, they'll be much, much more powerful).
In my opinion, the Power Hammer can be an incredibly deadly weapon in PvP, since you could just whack someone with a nice Mind Bleed or two, and just run out of range of their fire. Stick and move, or a "charging" method, would theoretically be very useful. (This is how Warriors with high damage, slow speed weapons would duel in Everquest)
Don't complain about the BH and Commando guns...look at all the wasted skill points getting those classes. I myself am a Master Weaponsmith, Swordsman, Pistoleer, and a Master Medic...so you can't really compare a Swordsman's weapon with a BH's. Swordsman have the two best weapons in the game in terms of raw damage...nothing I've ever made comes close to my 2HCS or my Power Hammer (one of the reasons why I personally chose to be a Swordsman myself, given the entire selection of weaponry at my disposal).
I thnk the great equalizer will come from equipping ourselves with better armor, specifically the Personal Shield Generators. Having the skill points available to be a pretty bad-ass Medic is also very nice. With a good Stim B, I can heal up my entire Health and Action bars in one shot...with a 5.5 speed weapon, I wouldn't even notice the heal between swings.
Oh...and a big PS...a 45% Speed slice could drop the 5.5 to 3.0 speed.
135-455, 3.0 speed = 98.3 DPS. Better yet, a 45% damage slice = 196-660. Imagine the Mind Bleed off THAT monster.
Your opponent had better learn to run, cuz if he hesitates enough for you get that Mind Bleed 1 and 2 on him, he can just sit down, laugh, and watch him die slowly.
Thanks Dtox.
I've seen it posted already before but it's good to get confirmation that the decrease in HAM costs on weapons was nothing else than an adjustment for an increase due to the core.
And i like what you just said *rubbing my hands* ![]()
