Swordsman Archive
Thread: Lets pretend we have a correspondent and list all of our issues here I will start.
I'm going to assume you don't PvP so I will just ask you a question and let you think about it...
How do wounds cause you "grief" sitting there at your computer.
Yeah lets take wounds out that way Medics, Doctorcs, Entertainers, Musicians, and Dancers will be useless skill trees. If you PvPed you would know that all wounds do is slow down the zerg-respawn of people using the TEF to repeated attack others.
bigger wounds actually cause less TEF greifing since the near end of one's HAM is generally when the other side gives up and goes home.
Unfortunatley there is no "civilized" PvP in the current system.. you fight and clone and repeat until one side gets bored or tired of loosing faction points and HAM.
and... as I have said in other posts.. the Commando Flame rules this and thus rules the PvP battleground.. we just try to get a measley mind bleed in once in a while.
/bump, we need to keep this alive.
Swordsmen can create a whirling circle of death utterly devestating to all who enter it. an area bleed would make us strategically open to new thoughts and considerations on the battlefield. we are the most leathal combatants on the planet. look at history, the most valuble soldier for 100's of years has been the swordsman/knight.
now ill openly admit that a marksman at 64m will probley kill me. but get in his face and he has no chance in hell.
our specials should be tailored to our profession. not just basic universal special attacks that might work for others but not nessasaraly for us swordsmen. out techniques should equal out our shortcommings. a marksman at a distance should have a slight advantage, but only a slight one.
sorry no edit button ![]()
also a word on wounding. if i stick a 4 1/2 foot sword in your gut, isnt that one hell of a wound??? and a trained swordsman will take that sword and rake it across your insides.... if your not dead your in very very bad shape. a 4 1/2 foot steel blade is a logging saw and the human body is the tree.
i really should write all this down first, sorry about the multi posting guys ![]()
there is no "civilized" fighting. im sorry if you think that you are plain wrong and will get beaten. a fight as it is simulated in SWG, is a fight to the death. and in a fight to the death i do not care what i have to do to beat you and save my own life. to get your weapon out of your hand ill bite through your wrist if i have to. it is life or death. there is no room for etiquette. in a duel, show respect to your opponet, respect is as far as it goes, if this person is willing to take your life you must be willing to take his and save you own by any means nessasarry.
combat is not a pretty busniess, that is why out great nations soldiers have massive "battle stress" because in a real life and death fight, you have so many emotions flowing through you and then the guilt... you lived but you had to kill a man.
anyway got a bit off point. fighting and combat can never and will never be "civilized".
Well, when *I* go griefing, and dying, and cloning, it's often against suicidal odds anyway. So I know I'm not going to live very long, but I do know that at least I can bleed a few people and harass them pretty good... and I'm not even a Commando. if I get wounded myself, well, I can still TEF-exploit and get in the first shot.
And hey, theoretically, they might fix the tef-after-death thing, so what will a specific wound-causing movie be useful for then?

all defense bonus's DON'T WORK!!
yea that nice +5 counter attack you get ? doesn't work
most of the defenses the melee classes give haven't been working which is another reason why we aren't tanks
They do work. Unfortunately, you need to have +25 before you really start noticing it happening. And then it doesn't happen nearly enough. If they multiplied our counter attack bonuses by 4 (spread out throughout novice/the defensive line/master) then we would block all the time. Even multiplying it by 3 might be enough.
I've noticed this myself...they're both not really offensive or defensive. All the bonuses are defensive, yet all the attacks besides maybe sweep are offensive. **edit** were they thinking?

The Defense and Offense lines moves are neither defensive or offensive in nature. Actually they're pretty much indentical. Perhaps a total rehaul ofboth line's specials is in order. Finesse and Technique's movesboth make sense at least.
It definitely should be a mind bleed.
For one comparing our specials against other professions is ridiculous. Most combat professions have specials twice as effective and useful as ours. Anyone thing we ask for should be granted.
Not to mention before the patches the whole point of master swordsman was that any group who was all in our range at 1 time was dead. Before the PvP reduction we area 1 hitted groups. Before the timer we could keep a group of people postureddown until they died. Then all the sudden we couldn't do anything. Bleed is easily healable, and giving us an area mind bleed alone would not bring us back to what we used to be, but at least it would be something.
in pve the health bleed would be more effective, and in pvp the mind bleed. for pvp i dont think the answer would be an area mind bleed, rather a kd of some type (maybe a status effect, but not dizzy)
I love the idea of an area bleed, it would help us in all forms of 1 vs>1 very much.
but some people who've posted mentioned the area bleed should be a mind bleed, and i disagree with that.
the area bleed should be sumthing that compliments our other attacks, just like the mindbleeds compliment head hits, becuase they are both single target mind attacks. unless we get an area mind attack, i think the bleed should definitely be a health bleed, as to compliment our mainly health-depleting area attacks and spin attacks, so were taking massive amounts of our enemies health away, not just taking their health and then every five seconds a mind bleed shoots off, that wouldnt help at all.
again this would change if we had an area head hit, but that would make evry1 wanna nerf us, and the nerf bat would be aimed at us, which of course we dont want. Besides i think we have enough mind damaging attacks anyway. I dont wanna nother attack that will sap my mind, but that could be just me...
More frustrating than anything else, was seeing all of the enemies clumped together in one spot...and knowing that I could not do ANYthing to take advantage of the situation. I desperately wished I had an area mind bleed, because mind bleed is the only thing we have in pvp.
