here, as I have a tailor toon I can tell you what are the most used stuff by fighters who wants to look "mean"... (actually I try to wear a different outfit than those, cause wearing those will make you look like a RL 12yo "uber 1337 d00D")
of course color will be "all black"
doctor's dress
paramilitary camos
decorative vest
skirt (damn forgot wich one, well then name...)
sunguard
comp helmet
so if you want to be a little original, try to avoid those and, in general, the black, black/white, black/red colors sets.
here are some items that are really great looking IMO
- padded armor boots (the whole suit looks like a bodysuit, very nice)
- shorts, pantaloons, confortable slacks, hawtpants 4ever
- femalewear: sports wrap (under a jacket)
- Cold weather jacket
- rugged and pilot jackets
- femalewear: decorative dress
- smock
- headwear suxx, xcept for the twi'lek ones and chef ones, better get a kickass haircut
my current outfit, I made it only for fun actually, it's not very efficient:
pants, the ones with the trim on the side
ribbed shirt (can't remember the name, the one you make for grinding tailors)
sneakers
all are yellow with black trim, it looks like bruce lee/kill bill outfit, rocks with a 2h curved.
my other toon's outfit is
- pantaloons
- ubese armor shirt
- cold weather jacket
- padded armor boots
- imperial medallion
it's fun to mix/match the colors as following
pantaloons/jacket main color
boots/jacket secondary color
black shirt
of course color will be "all black"

I like to wear black ubese armor with a black composite chest plate. Try it out, it looks badass.

i have the most original idea yet!
a Full set of black or red comp!
all kidding aside,I mostly go hunting in a grey/olive sage's hood. a pair of green/grey patterened wookiee gloves. an olive wookiee sholder pad. And a grey Waist wrap. (the colors are what my talior calls them. and sorry if i miss spelled or didn't get the name right)
I'm not sure if everyone can wear it, but i hear if you take a bothan and make it really really tall and fat they can wear wookiee clothing.

My outift is only good for SwordsWomen, but I love the way it looks.
- Noble Skirt
- Revealing Bikini
- Black Leather Gloves
- Black Standard Boots
It has a real 'uncivilized' look that feels oh so right when wielding oversized swords and giant hammers. If I were playing a guy toon, however unlikely that would be, I would probably dress as such:
- Comfortable Slacks
- Standard Boots
- Leather Trimmed Shirt
- Decorative Uniform Jacket
- Gloves
Don't know why, but I kind of like that look for a guy. *shrug*

two words.. kill bill.. with the tag Master Swordsman and a kicking kill bill suit and a 2handed sworded, by far the coolest feeling in the game..

I like the look of my old black crafter's apron, ubese shirt underneath (with my +10 speed in it) camo pants, boots, black composite helmet. Executioner's Hack equipped. I look like an executioner.

Mine is simple, it prolly don't get more simple heh...
I got a very cool dress, like a robe, that i looted...
Bare feeted.. I'm zabrak with a nice pony tail 
So that's just it.... only the robe makes me look very martial artistic and weilding my PH i feel cool hehe

I like my swordsman to look really sophicated(sp?) while hes kicking somethings ass... So...

Looks really awsome because you have the tie and when you are beating down something your this bad ass but when your done you just walk away like a perfect Gentleman... rofl

I like the feeling, i personally think it looks more of a Teras Kasi Outfit than swords but i still use it this way.

Apart from my usual battle-wear Purple Compo.
& My Purple grand healers robe.
I have a habit of hanging round Mos eisley Dressed in ribbed pants and a mangy vest carrying a survival knife.(with a Hotkey macro that replaces the knife with the scythe -area1's the target- and replaces the scythe back with the knife).
Makes some people do double-takes

Chitin is the ultimate swordsmen outfit. Some say RIS but I think its ugly besides the RIS helmet is pretty cool. But anyways for pure looks I like.
Decorative Vest
Matching padded armor biceps,bracers gloves.
Matching skirt, couple good ones you can use or padded workpants with the kneepads
Sandals
no helm or comp helm

On a side note I think the Comp pants look ugly, before the NPC's were changing weapons etc I wore a full comp suit with Ubese pants, that really enhances the composite look in my opninion.
Ubese wearers, A nice way to lower the ham even further is using Mabari gloves with the Ubese chest plate, just need to find a decent mabari maker.For those who don't know the Ubese chest covers biceps and the Mabari gloves cover the bracer.
