First of all...Excuse my bad english...i´m native german...;-))
I hope that this Post will help some peps who wanne start there way up to Master Swordsman. My big THANK U goes out to the whole community witch helped a lot by starting some very good threads...I picked most informations from those threads...i will add links to those threads later on.../bow
Part 1. - Swordsman a CloseUp
So u wanne be a swordsman but have no clue what its all about? Ok, lets have a look at the profession. Swordsman are the dudes with the great/heavy 2h-weapons. We can hit very hard but it takes some time. Even a Master Swordsman is far away from being speed-capped. As a Swordsman u have two damage-types. Kinetic as all the other Melee Profession and BLAST. Blast is very nice to take down Nightsister Elders or Turets etc. We have the 2nd highest melee-toughness(+ 43) in the game. Only TKA havin higher toughness(+ 57). The biggest lack besides speed is accuracy. Swordsman has the lowest accuracy compared to all melee professions. The melee and ranged defense is quiet low too. Our 2nd defense ability is called "Counterattack" - Same as carbineers. If u successfuly "counterattack" u prevent the damage from a hit and repeat with an unblockable hit for basic-damage on your target. So its better than dodge(no hit) or block(50% damage reduce to the hit). Like Rifleman we have special attacks to drain the mind of our targets. Some say we are the melee rifleman. I would say we are much better! So if u are looking for a profession witch allows u to kill each and any high-end-mob/npc in this game - Go for Swordsman...:-)) For anything related to PvP have a look at the great pvp-swordsman-guide(sticky) in our forum.
Part 2. - Get ready to rumble.
To start your way into the swordsman profession u will have to pick up novice brawler from an npc-trainer. This skill will cost u 100 creds and 15 skillpoints. Now u need a weapon to kill some stuff and obtain 2h-weapons/combat xp. Its a bit disappointing but your first weapon will be an axe! If u have some medic skills u will need no doc-buff to obtain the first 2 boxes. otherwise get buffed. I personaly hooked up with a fellow swordsman to get trained on the spot and havin a helping hand if things get to tide for me...
Good things while grinding:
- Armor with +70% Kinetic Protection
- Doc-Buffs
- Brandy
- Citrus Snowcake(Food increases Accuracy by +40)
- Synthisteaks
- Stims "b"(any melee should have at least novice medic)
- Speed-Sliced-Weapons depends on the cert your a havin at the time
- Melee-PowerUps for better Weapons-Speed
- Doc-Buffs
- Brandy
- Citrus Snowcake(Food increases Accuracy by +40)
- Synthisteaks
- Stims "b"(any melee should have at least novice medic)
- Speed-Sliced-Weapons depends on the cert your a havin at the time
- Melee-PowerUps for better Weapons-Speed
Part 3. - The Grind from Novice Brawler to Novice Swordsman
Novice Brawler: 100 Creds, no xp needed
Facts: 15 Skillpoints ; Cert for Heavy Axe ; Berserk1 ; Intimidate1 ; WarCry1 ; Basic Attack ; 2h Lunge1
Skillmods: +10 Accuracy and CoB efficacy along +5 Speed and CoB
Skillmods: +10 Accuracy and CoB efficacy along +5 Speed and CoB
* Intermediate 2h Swords: U only need 1k weapons xp for this skill. Just go berserk and kill some lesser stuff witch is around any greater npc-city. After max. 5min. u should be ready to get trained...If´ve done it outside theed...With this skill u will get a new cert for the 2h axe...
Facts: 2 Skillpoints ; Cert for 2h Axe ; 2h Hit1
Skillmods: +10 Accuracy and CoB efficacy along +5 Speed and +2 CoB
Total by now: +20 Accuracy, +10 Speed, +7 CoB, +20 CoB efficacy
Skillmods: +10 Accuracy and CoB efficacy along +5 Speed and +2 CoB
Total by now: +20 Accuracy, +10 Speed, +7 CoB, +20 CoB efficacy
* Advanced 2h Swords: U need 5k xp for this skill witch if´ve done with a kaadu-mission. I´m just using Hit1 and it toke me about 10-15min. to finsh the mission. Now its time for your first sword...u get the cert for the 2h cleaver...
Facts: 3 Skillpoints ; Cert for 2h Cleaver ; 2h Head Hit1
Skillmods: +10 Accuracy and CoB efficacy along +5 Speed and +2 CoB
Total by now: +30 Accuracy, +15 Speed, +9 CoB, +30 CoB efficacy
Skillmods: +10 Accuracy and CoB efficacy along +5 Speed and +2 CoB
Total by now: +30 Accuracy, +15 Speed, +9 CoB, +30 CoB efficacy
* Expert 2h Swords: To get this skill u need 15k xp. Again i did it with kaadu lairs on naabo...Tokes 45min to gether the xp. U obtain again a cert for a new weapon. Its called vibro axe and imo its pretty useless. Just stick with your clever...
Facts: 4 Skillpoints ; Cert for Vibro Axe ; 2h Sweep1(useless)
Skillmods: +10 Toughness, +10 Accuracy and +10 CoB efficacy along +5 Speed and +2 CoB
Total by now: +10 Toughness, +40 Accuracy, +20 Speed, +11 CoB, +40 CoB efficacy
Skillmods: +10 Toughness, +10 Accuracy and +10 CoB efficacy along +5 Speed and +2 CoB
Total by now: +10 Toughness, +40 Accuracy, +20 Speed, +11 CoB, +40 CoB efficacy
* Master 2h Swords: For this skill u will need to farm 70k 2h-weapons-xp. I switched from naboo to dantooine and picked up piket missions. they are about 9500 creds each mission...each mission will give u up to 25-30k xp - depends on how many babies will spawn...so u will need up to 3 missions to get the needed xp. It toke me nearly 2 hours to do the 3 missions. With this skill u will gettin your first area-attack(Spin Attack1) and the cert for the 2h curved sword. The 2h curved sword is faster than the cleaver but have lower min damage.
Facts: 5 Skillpoints ; Cert for 2h Curved Sword ; 2h Spin-Attackt1
Skillmods: +10 Toughness, +10 Accuracy and +10 CoB efficacy along +5 Speed and +2 CoB
Total by now: +20 Toughness, +50 Accuracy, +25 Speed, +13 CoB, +50 CoB efficacy
Skillmods: +10 Toughness, +10 Accuracy and +10 CoB efficacy along +5 Speed and +2 CoB
Total by now: +20 Toughness, +50 Accuracy, +25 Speed, +13 CoB, +50 CoB efficacy
* Novice Swords: Since u have an area attack its a lot easier to farm xps. For the novice swordsman u will need 125k 2h-weapons xp. Visit a Doc for Buff and stick with piket-missions. U will need to do 5 missions witch should be done within 2hours. Just SpinAttack the lair until the lair/pikets are finshed.
Facts: 6 Skillpoints ; Cert for PowerHammer(Blast Damage) ; 2h Hit2
Skillmods: +15 Toughness, +15 Accuracy, +15 CoB efficacy, +10 Speed and +5 CoB, +5 Melee Defense, +15 CounterAttack
Total by now: +35 Toughness, +65 Accuracy, +35 Speed, +18 CoB, +65 CoB efficacy, +5 Melee Defense, +15 CounterAttack
Skillmods: +15 Toughness, +15 Accuracy, +15 CoB efficacy, +10 Speed and +5 CoB, +5 Melee Defense, +15 CounterAttack
Total by now: +35 Toughness, +65 Accuracy, +35 Speed, +18 CoB, +65 CoB efficacy, +5 Melee Defense, +15 CounterAttack
Congrats! U are Novice Swordsman. Once again u have to be teached by an NPC-Trainer cuz the novice skills couldn´t be teached by other players.

Part 5. - I love to play Swordsman! What can i do to "enhance" my swordsman abilities?
This is the part where most players havin different opinions. Some say get Doctor, some say get rifleman and some other would tell u to build an uber stacker. Well to be honest...It depends on how u like to play this game. I will try my best to give u some tips related to PvE. The best way would be to download tc2 and build the templates of your likes and try it out...
1) Good for the FS Quests
Master Brawler - +5 Speed, Toughness, Accuracy and CoB ; Lunge2(20m ranged KD) ; Intimidate2 and WarCry2
Master Sword
Master TKA - Mediation, Melee/Ranged Defense and the ability to land all kind of stats(blind/stun/dizzy) on your target
a)Fencer 0400 - Cert for Stun-Bat and capping defense vs. knochdown and posture change
or b)Pike 0040 - DoT Weapons and more balanced def. vs. stats
Medic 2210 - Stims B and cure bleeds with first aid
Master Sword
Master TKA - Mediation, Melee/Ranged Defense and the ability to land all kind of stats(blind/stun/dizzy) on your target
a)Fencer 0400 - Cert for Stun-Bat and capping defense vs. knochdown and posture change
or b)Pike 0040 - DoT Weapons and more balanced def. vs. stats
Medic 2210 - Stims B and cure bleeds with first aid
U can cap xps on two professions witch makes it lots easier to grind thru. Later on in the quests u can drop the fencer/pike line and some medic to free up enough skillpoints.
2) Nice PvE Killer, mainly dwb, nightsisters, tusken, krayts or rancors
Master Brawler - +5 Speed, Toughness, Accuracy and CoB ; Lunge2(20m ranged KD) ; Intimidate2 and WarCry2
Master Sword
Master Pike - Nice area attacks(stun/dizzy/kd) and dot-weapons along with some nice def. vs. stats
Combat Powers 0034 +9 Melee Accuracy and +12 Melee Speed. Both good for pike and swords.
TKA 4000 - Mediation for powerboost, force of will, cure bleeds/poison/disease and woundhealing.
Medic 2000 - Stims B and cure bleeds with first aid
Master Sword
Master Pike - Nice area attacks(stun/dizzy/kd) and dot-weapons along with some nice def. vs. stats
Combat Powers 0034 +9 Melee Accuracy and +12 Melee Speed. Both good for pike and swords.
TKA 4000 - Mediation for powerboost, force of will, cure bleeds/poison/disease and woundhealing.
Medic 2000 - Stims B and cure bleeds with first aid
IMO the most powerfull pure melee template. The nice area attacks and stat-attacks(/stun/dizz/kd) u are missing as a swordsman will bring up by pike. Along with some nice (mind)dot-pikes u cut thru nightsister elders or krayts within a few minutes...
3) Healing Swordsman
Master Swords
Master Doc
Scout 1000
Master Doc
Scout 1000
U can buff yourself and heal all Health and Action and cure disease/poison/fire/stats(kd/dizzy/blind/stun etc.). U will need this abilities since u have next to nothing defense. Your offense abilities are some kind of limitied.
4) Hunting Swordsman
Master Swords
Master Scout
Master Ranger
Medic 0100
Master Scout
Master Ranger
Medic 0100
Good for people who wanne build a meat-hunter. Being a ranger is some kind of value cuz thru the jedi quests u have to kill some kind of "rare animals". So upcoming jedi will pay u good money to track down there targets...Not to forget that docs are allways paying very well for good meat! U can make some mil. creds within a few weeks...
5) Smuggling Swordsman
Master Swords
Master Smuggler
Pistoleer 0404
Medic 0100
Master Smuggler
Pistoleer 0404
Medic 0100
U can slice your armor and weapons. Assemble your own muon and pixies and open your looted locked containers. U can make some money by selling faction points or slice for othter player. Your Pistol-skills are not the best but ok for killing lesser animals/npcs...The ability of feign death can safe your life while fighting high-end-mobs/npcs...
6) Corvette/Geno-Cave Swordsman
Master Brawler
Master Swords
Combat Powers 0044
TKA 4300
Pistoleer 0040
Medic 2000
Master Swords
Combat Powers 0044
TKA 4300
Pistoleer 0040
Medic 2000
The Line from Pistoleer gives u +2 ranged migration witch cut down the max. damage of your opponents ranged-weapon. Along with the migration u get some nice defense vs. stats too.

I did just fine on Tatooine, with a female Bothan (full mind stat migration; she was meant to be Medic/Doctor support for my Bothan Bounty Hunter
), in 24% KineticMabari, with no doctor buffs (most boxes in Medic, but using extremely poor quality Stim A that she had grinded out for crafting experience), and moving up from the axes to settle into the two handed curved sword. Against those low level mobs, that 24% Mabari was great at cutting down the damage I took, and the unsliced encumberance on the full suit of Mabari was much much less than the sliced encumberance on a single Composite BP. The end result was that against those low level mobs, the armor shaved off tons of low level damage, and it didn't cause my specials costs to go up much at all, so it was a great deal and it gave my character a look that you rarely ever see these days (full suit of Blue/LightBlue Mabari on a 3 foot tall white-furred Bothan female carrying a two handed curved sword = highly unusual
).
In fact, she's up to Swordsman |0|2|0|1| and she's still wearing that Mabari! With all newbies starting in Mos Eisley these days, there's typically at least one or two merchants on each server that have a shop set up for newbie armor and weapons at low prices. Once I can start buffing myself, I'll probably skip right past Ubese and get some decent Composite (or Padded if I can find anyone that makes it; I like being different
).
