Thread: Tell me it isn't so . . .

OK, I feel stupid, but not proud - so here goes.

I just finished grinding Swords 4444 and will complete Master Swords tonight. I finished up by killing hundreds of rancors a couple nights ago. Found an excellent place right near a Singing Mountain Clan rancor trainer camp - the trainer would spawn periodically as would 4-5 lairs right near the trainer camp. Kill all rancors, go to another lair, kill all rancors, etc and they just kept respawning. I ended up leaving before the spawns quit.

So here's what's stupid - I NEVER ONCE looted a corpse. I simply had no idea that rancors dropped. In fact, just found out due to another thread in another forum showing a sword that was dropped.

So, please tell me exactly what I could have been missing (e.g., what was the best loot you ever got from a rancor. That way I can know exactly how stupid I was!

A set of exceptional rancor teeth. I think I sold them for 5 million to a weaponsmith. They're used in the place of sword cores or something...

Let's see... with a little help from my friend..
You can loot from rancors:

Teeth - for melee weapons (sword core enhancers?)
Hide - armor segment enhancers
Segments - padded armor segment replacements
Bile - for Combat Medics

I have looted 2 exceptional pieces from rancors, a wood staff and a mabari pants- sold for 3mill


So I would have to say 90% of the time the loot isnt worth it, but every once and a while you get something great.

Oddly enough, rancors seem to drop some really odd loot sometimes. Aside from the hides, biles, or teeth, I've seen (or heard of rather) some people looting various weapons off them. Methinks these are the weapons of those who have fallen victim to rancors.

I can use rancor bile. I can put them in disease and poison area cures...Not sure what else i haven't really checked but it goes in place of a dispersile(sp) mechanism

yep, i found many a cdef inside a dead rancor I guessed they like the taste of cocky newbies ^_^ /cheer newbies!

lol - ok - was heading to dath to hunt rancors last night . . . then I asked myself what the heck I was doing. Going to dath to hunt RANCORS for loot? lol

Headed over to NS stronghold - a partner and I looted 4 clear crystals a couple decent dot lances (not fantastic though) and a bunch of other things. Forget the rancors lol.

Rancor also randomly drop stat'ed or mod'ed weapons.

yeah, mostly all the loot from rancors has been mentioned already.

im pretty sure i got a crystal one night.. atleast there was one in my inventory, and all i killed were rancors that evening..

Well, I guess the message is that, if I want loot - go after nightsisters. If I want assured cash (not just based on the luck of the loot), run rancor missions and hope for loot as a bonus.

lol - even nightsisters give lousy loot I have found hehe - got a couple clasps last night.
