Hi all, is it REALLLLYYYY nessacry to be speed caped?... im going Master Doc/Master Swordsman... and that will leave me around +75... Now do i REALLLLY have to spend 20mil's to get the speed cap?.. my main goal is to be able to solo decently... like Elders, Acklays, Those kinds of mobs... Would i be able to kill them without having to spend 20mil on speed tapes?
Also, Wheres the BEST place to loot those 2hand speed tapes? where have you had the most luck.... thanks.

No need to spend 20mil. Get fs speed, then you're saving yourself 12mil, then u only need 8 more in tapes... get em in 3/5, 4/4, 2/6 etc.... rather easy

Lately i've hadsome luck in the Ac'uan (cant remember the spelling) Cave.
In a couple of runs i looted both a +4 and a +6 2hand speed SEA.
But i dont know if theres a cap on the SEA quality. E.g if u can only loot
up til +8 skill tapes down there.
Cheers!

Yes, you REALLY need to be speed capped... just to give you an idea...
This is the Average Damage Per Second (DPS)
200-700 Hammer, 6.0 speed (A pretty basic Acklay Hammer)
With +75 Speed
Hit3 553.8
With +95 Speed (capped)
Hit3 2700.0
That is a HUGE difference...

It helps a lot to be speed capped, spend as much money as your comfortable with on speed tapes and you should do fine
Once you see the difference in +9 or 10 you'll want more

if you cant afford tapes make sure you buy the 2 handed speed stims . each stim has five charges and each charge gives you + 10 speed for 5 minutes . when fighting against mobs like krayts and elders they are a cheap way to increase your damage per second by a lot .

Just to give you a heads up, you might be thinking:
"Oh, I'll just use a 3.6 PH and I'll be capped. I won't do as much damage, but I'll be capped - 3.6 is *nothing* compared to 5.2-5.9!"
**BZZZZZT!**
Get to know this page well - as whenever you wonder about how much DPS you're doing or how quickly you're hitting, this page will tell you (unless you're a Jedi).
HOWEVER, it also makes clear that in order to cap on HeadHit3 with a 3.6 PH, you need a whopping +89 speed, two shy of MSW+FS Speed. To cap 2hHit3 on a 3.6, you need +92, a full five points off the FS bonus total for a MSW.
This is the BAD thing about speed calcs - you might think "hey, 2.3 point difference between a 3.6 and 5.9...can't be THAT bad." Well, it *IS* that bad.
Long story short, yeah - you need to be capped, or all you are is a glorified tank.

Even if you lucked out and got a 34-35% speed slice on an 5.2 PH (to say nothing of an Acklay at 5.9 - the Sword Gods cry when you wish for a speed slice on an Acklay), you'd still need +88 for a 3.3, and +91 for a 3.4. Swordsman is an expensive profession to get involved in if you don't do it along with Master Brawler and FS Melee Speed.
Also, good luck getting an Acklay - Knights with 4th gens camp down at the bottom of the Geo Lab like the thing crapped Flawless pearls, and their sticks do more damage per hit than yours, unless you have an uberhammer.

Hi,
Yes being a Speed Capped Swordsman is of most importance to this profession, without the speed cap you will not be able to solo elders/acklay/krayts ect..Your speed mod also depends on how much dmg you can do per second IE. higher the speed mod = more dmg you do per second. I have put close to 100 million credits into this profession, also if you are planning to buy/loot attchments for Swordsman look for Clothing Attchments more than Armor Attchments.
Hope i've helped
Thanks,

You do not need to be speed capped to buff people in coronet starport. You do not need to be speed capped to kill a krayt ancient (you could do it with 3 guys armed with cdef pistols as long as you started right at server restart andfight continually untill shut down). You do not need to be speed capped to kill an elder armed with a wooden staff.
You do need to be speed capped to kill a canyon krayt in under 20 mins. You do need to be speed capped to kill 6 elders before the battle fatigue makes you unable to continue. You do need to be speed capped to take down 3 sith thugs, 2 pirates and 4 outlaws at once.
All speed capping does is make you do things faster. If you want to spend 20 mins fighting an elder, no problem. Spend your $$$ elsewhere. If you want to an efficient killing/looting machine, going from one mob to the next with grim determination and no thought of mercy or compassion, get speed capped.

Sure getting speed cap is all nice but how? I barely see a 2h speed attachment and if I see them people are wanting Millions for them.

If the people who have them charge millions, and the folks who want them line up to pay it, maybe they are on to something...
