Thread: What would you do if Swordsman gets nerfed in Combat Balance?

I'm not saying I've heard anything about a Swordsman nerf. I'm just asking how would you all feel about it if it did happen. If the combat balance changed a lot if things, fine, but it better not screw with the love we have for this profession. I personally gave up on holo grinding once I mastered Swordsman. I was about to surrender swordsman to master tailor, I had all the resources and everything, but I did not want to give up Swordsman. So what I'm saying is if they nerf Swordsman I just may quit SWG.


I've tried TKA, fun at first but gets boring after awhile. Then I did Pikeman, cool looking, but not very good. Then I tried Swordsman, loved it obviously. Haven't tried Fencer, but I couldn't see myself being called a Master Fencer. I gave up the possibility to become a Jedi. No more holo grinding for me because Swordsman was too cool to have. So-


What would you guys do if they nerf Swordsman in the combat balance?

No offence in the way this will come out, But you must be a newer swordsmen, im a Master Swordsmen and one of the Old School Swordsmen at that, i must say we have already been nerfed GREATLY our head hits now range from what 1-4k where they used to be 3-10k my sword hit 3 gets up to 6k max i used to do 15k.... i think there has already been a major hit on our profession and i dont belive there needs to be anymore so, but hey, thats just one Swordsmens oppnion

Im kinda hoping they make swordsman viable in PvP not just PvE with the revamp. All my TKM/Fencer/Pikeman friends laugh at me for trying to PvP with swords.

I think it's safe to say that everyone's going to get nerfed, I'm just going to wait and see how badly...


If they go down the EQ route of having to group to do anything worthwhile I'll just jack in my subscription and find something more constructive to do, the main reason I like SWG is that solo play is viable, I enjoy getting involved with my guild, meeting new people off killing things, but I do NOT enjoy being forced to group to kill Gnorts...


.. added to which, if they do change it so that it takes 15 guys to kill a Nightsister Elder, we had better get more than 400 **edit**ing credits for it - I **edit** you not, one of the elders we took down tonight dropped 400 credits, another one dropping nothing at all...


...yeah, that's really worthwhile then...

Add some Fencer and/or TKA defenses to your Master Swords temp and they'll stop laughing.

Im leaning towards:


MRifleman/Mswords/TKA 4-0-0-4/Nmedic


As i see it though..my wins will come from having rifles, not the swords.

i agree , but going by what is heard on test centre , they making it so we will have to group to killl the like of Krayts , rancors and so on , so i think they taking alot of the solo playing out of the game , but we'll just have to wait and see , id hate it to go this way though as i dont alway want to be in groups hinting high level mobs



But swordman in PVP well i get on pretty ok at the moment im nearly speed capped so that cool , but we'll see soon enough

Here's the plans so far with the combat balance, subject to change at any time:


Fencer - loses the amazing defense, becomes a quick, light damage class that doesn't get hit much. WILL dual wield

TKA - all around fighter

Swordsman - the damage dealer

pikeman - the defensive tank and area/crowd control


(this was on the pikeman forum, said by a dev at fanfest.)


Rifles has been hinted at getting a 3 second speed cap, which isnt too bad, but also they have to be PRONE to do full damage.

Pistols - dual wield
