Thread: Master Swordsman, do you want a duel?

After a week of killing in Endor, I became a master swordsman last night.I changed my title from Battlemaster to Master Heavy Swordsman, when I walked in the Theed of Naboo, some players /tell me and asked for a duel since they are boring. I refused their request because I don't like PvE too much in this game. (Even a NPC with 400 HAM can kill me by running and shot me from 20m) Do you guys have the same experience? How do you feel about the others' attitude towards this profession?

Quite a lot of players asked me what's a battlemaster. They thought I have won a lot of battles in the battlefield. It's really a good name and I love it more than the Master Heavy Swordsman!

If you take duels indoors you will have a really good chance at winning.

Outdoors against a ranged person, don't bother as they'll just kite you if they're smart.

One thing you should do I've learned recently is put Intimidate (the novice brawler skill) on your hotbar and be sure to land that on them early in the fight. It will more than half their damage and lower their hit rate, letting you survive a great deal more (point of reference after dropping one on an ATST it's damage went from 1200 a shot to 400 a shot).

Also learn to use the lunge attack. It's resisted often now unfortunately and has the 30 second timer on it but if you have some medical skills you can spam that til they kneel if they get out of range.

Finally what I almost always do first off in a fight is Mind Hit 2 followed by Mind Hit 1. This pretty much ensures you will get them incapacitated even if you drop first (and if you drop first, you'll probably get up first and thus win).

Wow, I will try the intimidate and yes I always use mindhit2 first off. Mainly because I love the animation with it lol. Seriously though, I can't seem to beat any PVP person. Yesterday I was on my way back to anchorhead from a mission when a PVP Imp player started taking shots at me. He had to be an extremely low level because usually I die about 20 seconds from every other one. Anyway I finally got close to him, in fact on top of him and I could not even get a shot on him. If they move at all it seems not to stop them. I tried 3 different attacks, Area attack3, then Minhit2 and head hit3. All missed. He ran and took me down. I was buffed strong A's at the time. About 500 to every stat.

They really need to throw us a bone here..

Almost forgot. It was like usual, they stand over my corpse and laugh. This guy called me a Dirty Monkey. The sad thing is that he actually thought he was skilled.

*Sigh....

Remember that the range of your standard attacks and specials is only about 4m (maybe 5m) which is not very big at all and the lag effect means that you will need to be IN FRONT of a moving target to hit them (nice net code there).

In ranged fights if I can't get a lunge to stick and slap some bleeds on them I run the opposite direction for some kind of cover to hide behind to bring them in range. Or just pull out altogether.

It's kinda tough to accept but you have to realize that you will not be given even a 50/50 shot at killing a ranged user if they are allowed to kite you. You have to be very aware of your surroundings and use that terrain to your benefit. Unless brawler elites are given some sort of special burst/sprint run this will always be the case, the lunge is too often resisted to be a sure thing when they start kiting.

Here is a huge tip guys, auto-follow. Use your auto-follow command and you stick to them like glue, once you get within 15 meters, use lunge to get them down and then mind hit/head hit.

Funny story.

There were 2 TEF'd rebels outside my guildhall, so I ran out and attacked them. I do pretty well as long as they aren't commandos, bounty hunters or riflemen....

So anyway, I'm plugging the first guy with my rifle and notice the second guy is hitting me for headshots and I'm going down fast. So I retreat back into my guildhall. I use the elevator to go to the basement, pull out my power hammer and wait. (I'm actually trying to call my faction pets, but the rebels caught on beforemy combat timer expired and let me do it.)

The basement is really small, so the first guy down pulls out a melee weapon of his own. I put him down with some nice headhit3's and did the same thing to his friend (who also pulled out a sword but only had headhit2).

It's one of the few times I've killed anyone with melee in PvP, much less two people. They probably could have played it better, but I was happy. Melee can still be useful in very closed in environments.

But yeah, outdoors, you're worthless. It's all about server-lag. Even with a 70ms ping, everything you see is lagged by about 2 seconds. If someone is moving, you'll never hit them with a melee weapon.

It does but remember the lag when you're chasing a moving target.

When you're chasing someone and it says they're at 15m they're really at around 20 or 25m.

It would be nice of they could optimize the netcode to make things more reliable. If that's even possible.

So I take it that lunge has a greater range than area attack3 then. Hmm..

Burst run is useful, but we can't always use it because of its long cool down speed, especially when you have 2 targets. As many players have suggested, we need some skills to chase our target in a more sufficient way. I would like to see if ranged people will slow down when they are shot-and-run, then we will have better chance.

I'm on the road to be a CH, so I can use pet to attack my targets. Maybe it's sad to use pet as a professional warrior, but pet is really useful in such situation (they run faster than human).

And do you all feel the successful rate of sweep skills are lowered? It's lower than 50% in my case and the target can get up in 1 round. It seems useless now...?
