greetings fellow swordspeople,

i had a good encounter in theed (eclipse) last night. i thought i'd get all buffed up, except focus/will buffs, and go overt (rebel) looking for easy targets. i rode around cautiously for a bit, mostly because i didn't get any innoculations, so i was very wary of combat medics. i'm not so scared of tkm but they still get me 1 vs 1 even with kd/dizzy food. anyways, i saw an immobile red dot on the outskirts of theed. hoping to catch an imperial unawares, i went towards it and hit 'tab'. no luck.. just an imperial npc that was unnattackable. well i rode around some more, and found an overts swoop! yay! my chance to roleplay as a rebel terrorist who has no regard for personal property! i hopped off, destroyed it and rode off into the sunset happy with the destruction i caused. a few minutes later, i got a tell from an overt dark jedi that i saw running around alone earlier 'did you kill my bike?!' (/lol self, if that makes sense)

great, i think, i got his getaway vehicle. so i go back to circling theed cautiously on my swoop, when i see an unbuffed tef'er. i go in to kill him, but his tef wears off right before i can get a head hit in. i hop on my swoop, and round the corner, sensing a trap. KABLOIE. there goes my swoop. the DJK got it.. damn. oh well. i try my best to take him out, but i'm not much of a pvp'er. my scythe gets his mind down quite a bit. i get incapped, but in retrospect i think i could've done better.

i didn't realize his unbuffed swordsman partner was wailing on my mind as well. maybe if i could've taken him out real quick i would've stood more of a chance against the knight. it was fun though, and the dark jedi must have felt bad at such an easy kill, cause he offered me the chance to go again. i said, no thanks, just db me. :-) we bowed, and i died. i was convinced he did it all alone, so i didn't see the point.

but, my point of this post was to ask the community if a normal master swordsman/brawler, with no fencer/tk/ pike defenses, and not speed capped, has taken a knight either in a friendly duel, or in solo pvp.i imagine it is rare to find a jedi without a ganksquad/bodieguards, so i was happy in that respect.

i'll get back to you all after i get back from work. laters.

Nice story, it is definately possible to take down a DJK with swordsman/brawler. Intimidate and apply as many states as possible to wear down their force. If you have poison or fire or disease DOTs, try sticking those as well. DOTs work well against jedi since they are forced to stop attacking and heal it.

edit: oh and warcry is your best friend versus jedi

Heirarchy of best professions to kill jedi:

1) Pikeman

2) TKM

3) Fencer

4) Swordsman

Although swordsman is the hardest to kill DJK with, it can be possible.

And although you got is mind down, he would've healed it. Not a flame, but I'm guessing this is your first encounter with a Dark Jedi Knight in PvP?

If they are using a staff 1v1 i can outlast them fully buffed and i use swords not tk vs Jedi if it gets to the point where i have to multi heal if they have knocked me down i use my /warcy2 /peace macro (not an exploit 1v1 it stops me breaking warcry when i want to heal). If you can keep them intimidated you should eventually be able to out last their force however beware the 1h saber users even with buffed mind stats they should win fairly easily.

One more note just because you got their ham fairly low doensnt mean you nearly won as they can heal in one click of a button even if kdif you last for about 8 mins and have their ham low when you lose you nearly won as they will be low on force then.

Jedi rarely travel allown as well so its unlucky about his friend sounds like you had fun though which is the important part and often sadly forgotten by a number of pvpers.

I doubt someone who is just master swords has taken a good knight who is prepaired 1v1 as the defences are a bit low however vs a bad knight or one who isnt prepaired and is jumped by a swords BH may have been taken by a swordsman. Swords is actually a good pvp prof it just takes a bit of practise. I recently wasted a fencer rifleman friend of mine who had mind buffs when i didnt and i have some good dots for pvp as well.

I don't think a regular swords/brawler could take a jedi knight. Maybe if you had some fencer and tk or pistols def then maybe. Or if you were swords/doc. But otherwise they can heal themselfs to easily and can deal to much damage.

ahh, the ole dot weapons. i think most of those are horse-dookie, but lets not talk about that here.

well this situation has really got me thinking. i suppose to make things better i should turn my 'warcry2' button into a macro, 'warcry2, peace'.

so long as i don't attack the one who is delayed, they stay delayed right?

also, i think i should look into how long /center lasts, and make a recursive macro for that.

i was looking at my combat log, and i didn't counterattack one time. it was ashort fight, but lots of attacks were done, and normally i counterattack a decent number of times in duels. (i'm also amaster carbineer, so i amway over capped)

i'm conflicted about using my dot ax from jabba, but it isn't like it is a900str mind fire or something ridiculous like that. maybe a warcry, peace, change weapon, attack untill it sticks, warcry, switch back toscythe. and so on.

thanks for all of the positive feedbackguys. i think i'll be a better dueler from this.(if thedocs come down from space) :-)

You will be able to take out a Knight who does not know what they're doing, I've seen it happen tons of time, but when you run into the Knight who is well prepaired and knows what the hell they're doing you will lose every time.
