Thread: Why isn't MHS flavor of the month?

I have been doing the holo grind for some time and I recently finished master brawler. I then decided to go swordsman (keeping master brawler). I am currently 0/2/0/2 and after buffing and don'ing my 80% kinetic comp and wielding 2 PH's (one for bleeds and one for beating on the mind) I am doing insane amounts of damage. I went hunting with my guild mates last night and I was killing impalers and hilltop gurrek's on endor faster then anyone else...to the point that some of them were not able to get xp (I actually had to hold back!). Here are my PH stats:

175-710, -17 5.4 spd (bleeder...31% dmg slice with a 16% max damage powerup)

175-546, -173.7 spd (post bleed weapon with 30% speed slice, dont remember the stats after a powerup...that may be the stats with...don't remember)

I suppose it is because of having master brawler, but man I could not believe the damage I was dishing out. In the end I have been won over and I am going to keep this combo (master smugger, master brawler, master swordsman) and use it for the new Jedi unlocking system. Playing a master brawler\master swordsman has been the most fun i have had in pve in a long time.

By the way...I was using the brawler 2h sweep\area attack while surrounded by 5-8 impalers and it seems like i was hitting some of them multiple times (some were at full health and i would sweep and they would die and the whole screen was spammed with damage that i did)...is this a bug or something that happens every now and then with area attacks?

Anyhow....This has got to be one of the funnest professions I have played to date (and there have been over 15 for me so far..including a 3 month stint as a TKM).

I haven't been a swordsman for long but from what I can see it is fun!

But the negatives I can see is the accuracy and defense. Try swordsman with out Master Brawler and you'll start to see what is lacking in the profession.

IMHO pvp drives the flavor of the month crowd. TK is still king in pvp.

Ill tell why, you actually have to think to use it effectively in pvp. Most people want to be able to hit dizzy/kd and then just beat on you. This profession you dont have that merry option and people dont like having to strategize(sp?)

I agree it must come down to PvP because I started pistoleer and ground swords for a holo and am deffinatly keeping it its area attack, and med armor piercing weapons just kill. I had 6-8 tuskens all in the brutes, warlords, cheifs, cateforyetc and killed them all in a few seconds (buffed with 80% comp) the only one who could get any xp from this was a comando with a flamethrower.

I can take down atsts withmind hits with a little strategy and timing. I am going to pick up master bralwer further down the road.

because flavor of the month is mostly to do with PVP.

swordsman are pretty sad in pvp due to

1. damage mitigation

2. poor accuracy

3. insane ham costs

4. its really hard to hit the speed cap with our good weapons - and if you can't hit the speed cap you can't stack bleeds, or hit very well when you miss all the time

5. our defense sucks

6 our defense sucks, so even if you stack it with another profession you still have less than a master tk/fencer/riflemen stacked with another profession

yes we are good in pve, but i wouldn't say thats a big deal.

This class isn't flavor of the month because the damage output isnt as high as Commandos and Rifleman and the defenses aren't as high as TKM and Fencer.

WHO NEEDS DEFENSES WHEN YOU KILL EVERYTHING IN TWO HITS!

PvP: If a MHS goes up against a rifleman, he looses If a TKM goes up against a rifleman, guess what, he looses unless its started 5m from each other, and in that case, a MHS would win also, if you are smart about it.

PvE: If a MHS goes up against 8 Tuskens, he walks out with very little wounds If a TKM goes up against 8 Tuskens, he walks out while he had to pop a muon, and get rid of the wounds he just got from the Tuskens, AND he runs into the MHS taking out the next 8 tuskens he had his eye on because we freakin rock!

you might have the luxuary of 80 kinetic armor.

i do not.

i can't take hit after hit so my few hits can go in.

and im not really talking about PVE.

pvp and pve require diffrent levels of skill

To all those who say the defenses suck . . .

Now granted MHS isn't the best in PvP, but if you know what to do and when to do it, you can win. Going up against a TKM, you'd better have some armor, mind bleed 2, lay there for a few minutes while he eats his mind away, get up and mind hit 1 will get em. But if you miss your first attack, i'ts your @@@

If you go up against a rifleman, easy enough done, better have yourself an ATST on guard.

Insane HAM cost? Try +200 from Action every other second with unarmedhit3.

What kind of HAM cost is headhit3?
